Publisher's summary

Tom Marshall was never one of the good guys. Even back when he was a cop, he was just another member of an utterly corrupt force. He has spent the last five years working at a local towing company run by a small-time mafia boss and drinking his life away in an ever downward spiral. When one of his buddies asks him to look for his missing girlfriend, Tom takes a chance and decides to try doing the right thing for a change. The trail this search leads him down makes him question whether he wants to be the kind of guy who finds lost girls, or the kind of guy who makes them disappear.

A great off beat story

I enjoyed this story. I am an Asheville local and it was nice hearing all of the references to the area. The main Character is not your average hero and though it's hard to like him at first you are rooting for him at the edge of your seat before long. The mystery asspect is well done, leaving you guessing right along with the protagonist. I whole heartedly recommend giving this book a read. It has a bit of a slow start, but stick with it and you will not be disappointed.

Surprised, pleasantly

I went in not knowing what to expect. I ended up loving this book. I hope the author does a follow up.

Great story and good performance!

Matt does a great job writing a fun and interesting story. Rhett backs this up with a solid performance.

Asshole Anti-hero

The main character has very few redeeming qualities at the beginning of the story. As the story progresses, there is a shift in his attitude which shows he is not a complete sociopath. Hints at his previous life have me curious as to what happened to him to cause him to be who he is now.

The supporting cast of characters are an interesting bunch. Some are clichés of the detective genre, but they fit the story. There is a crooked detective, an independent young daughter, the Mafia styled kingpin with a big secret.

It kept my interest and left me wanting to know more about several of the characters. How they got here, and where they are going. I didn't give 5 stars because of a few events which didn't make sense to me. The main character's move towards redemption took a long time to happen, and then seemed a little rushed. I also thought it should have been more of a struggle for him.
