Publisher's summary

Once in a lifetime, a writer puts it all together. This is James Patterson's best work ever.

Total

For 36 years, James Patterson has written unstopable, pulse-racing novels. Now, he has written an audiobook that surpasses all of them. Zoo is the thriller he was born to write.

World

All over the world, brutal attacks are crippling entire cities. Jackson Oz, a young biologist, watches the escalating events with an increasing sense of dread. When he witnesses a coordinated lion ambush in Africa, the enormity of the violence to come becomes terrifyingly clear.

Destruction

With the help of ecologist Chloe Tousignant, Oz races to warn world leaders before it's too late. The attacks are growing in ferocity, cunning, and planning, and soon there will be no place left for humans to hide. With wildly inventive imagination and white-knuckle suspense that rivals Stephen King at his very best, James Patterson's Zoo is an epic, nonstop thrill ride from "One of the best of the best" (Time).

An Unexpected Yet Fascinating Departure for JP

I it were possible to listen blindly to this book without knowledge of the author, I would have never guessed this was a James Patterson novel. Yet, this is not necessarily a bad thing. This reads like a sci-fi thriller medical thriller. It is well researched (for those who are knowledgeable of neuro-anatomy. Patterson and Ledwidge deliver with an intriguing story of a hero hoping to stop one of the most self-fish and vicious killers- ourselves.

Interesting concept

I downloaded the book to listen to before the tv series but didn't get a chance. Glad I didn't because I would have been yelling at the screen. The book is miles different and makes so much more sense than the series. Definitely well worth the listen.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

kept me on adge all the way thru.

Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

A Man's Best Friend?

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very interesting, full of adventure and held your attention until the end. Especially when it became a television series, you wanted to read to get ahead of the next episode. Would recommend this book to anyone that loves a good suspense, action packed story. Happy Reading. ....

I liked it

I really enjoyed this story as well as the narrator. The story jumped from beginning to five years later which was great for me as I went into this story knowing it would be a short read, just for enjoyment of the characters, with that in mind it did exactly that. Not too much fluff, story moved quickly and the end honestly was perfect in my opinion. Without spoiling too much I have a great fear of chimpanzee's (spell ck ?) with that in mind the descriptions and that animals character in this story scared me to death. I actually got goose bumps for a large part of the reading, and isn't that what an author and narrator strive for in a thriller/horror/creepy read? I will listen again once the chills go away, lol.

Scary Premise

If you are looking to listen to or read this book in hopes of finding out more about the CBS show then you will be disappointed. The show is nothing like the book, as the show Under The Dome was completely different. That said, this story is a frightening look at a What If scenario. The specific attacks described are terrifying. I am not sold on the final cause of the animal revolt, but the observation about humanity's response is entirely too accurate, in both the positive and even more acutely in the negative.

This book is sure to give you fuel for introspective thought.
