Publisher's summary

The dazzling new novel in the #1 New York Times best-selling series from the grand master of adventure.

It is called zero point energy, and it really exists - a state of energy contained in all matter everywhere, and thus all but unlimited. Nobody has ever found a way to tap into it, however - until one scientist discovers a way.

Or at least he thinks he has. The problem is, his machines also cause great earthquakes, even fissures in tectonic plates. One machine is buried deep underground; the other is submerged in a vast ocean trench. If Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala and the rest of the NUMA team aren't able to find and destroy them, and soon, the world will be on the threshold of a new era of earth tremors and unchecked volcanism.

Now, that can't be good.

If you can't do an Aussie accent please don't try!

Typical Clive Cussler bigger than life storyline, but as an Aussie the accents were hard to put up with. Why Americans over emphasise aspects of our accent is beyond me. Sounded more like a cross between Cockney, Liverpool and Yorkshire from a Oliver Twist play.

Shocking attempt at an Australian ascent .

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I found this book unsatisfying . The stories was superficial simplistic & predictable . Also as an Australian I found the readers attempts at an Australian ascent truly horrible . It got to the point that I just could not keep listening . Why don't these readers listen to some real Australian ascents .Does Russell Crow or Nichole Kidman sound like this?? It was a cross between Michel Cain & Dick Van Dike in Mary Poppins ??? This reading was horrible & if I may say as an Australian insulting .

What was most disappointing about Clive Cussler and Graham Brown ’s story?

It was predictable & the attempt at an Australian ascent was horrible .

Would you be willing to try another one of Scott Brick’s performances?

He was OK when reading in his own voice but listen to some real Australians before attempting the ascent again .

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment .

Any additional comments?

Please if there are Australian characters in future readings work at getting the ascent right . Imagine if you were listening to an Englishman doing a reading & every American character sounded like Gommer Pile ! That is how this reading came across to me.

Kind of lacks any spirit

Do not know how to express it but even though I finished the listening, this is one of the weakest of "Cussler" books.
It flows but lacks something. it begins to resemble Mr. Brown, another book off the mill, based on same recipe as before ...

predictable

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The zero energy premise is interesting, but the story was really predictable. Still a satisfying listen.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Scott Brick does great with all the characters.

Way too far out there.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the story was just a little bit believable. I'm all for adventure, action and all that but this was just too much. I've great things about Cussler, that being said, I was a pretty disappointed as the story rolled on.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not Clive Cussler

What aspect of Scott Brick’s performance would you have changed?

Scott Brick did a good job for what he had to work with.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Zero Hour?

Chapter one, thats where the insanity starts.

Any additional comments?

I do plan on giving Cussler another chance. So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!!

Disappointed

Worst Australian accent EVER!! I love Scott Bricks narration and have listened to many of his...this was so disappointing. He did a really bad Aus accent and it was almost a deal breaker for me. Made me dread when the Aus characters were talking and in turn made the book much less enjoyable
