Publisher's summary

From David Baldacci - the modern master of the thriller and number-one worldwide best-selling novelist - comes a new hero: a lone Army Special Agent taking on the toughest crimes facing the nation. And Zero Day is where it all begins....

John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth.

Now, Puller is called out on a case in a remote, rural area in West Virginia coal country, far from any military outpost. Someone has stumbled onto a brutal crime scene, a family slaughtered. The local homicide detective, a headstrong woman with personal demons of her own, joins forces with Puller in the investigation. As Puller digs through deception after deception, he realizes that absolutely nothing he's seen in this small town, and no one in it, are what they seem. Facing a potential conspiracy that reaches far beyond the hills of West Virginia, he is one man on the hunt for justice against an overwhelming force.

David Baldacci is one of the world's favorite storytellers. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 110 million copies in print. He is also the cofounder, along with his wife, of the Wish You Well Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting literacy efforts across America. Still a resident of his native Virginia, he invites you to visit him at www.DavidBaldacci.com and his foundation at www.WishYouWellFoundation.org, and to look into its program to spread books across America at www.FeedingBodyandMind.com.

Sound effects annoying

I liked everything about it except the music and sound effects. They were distracting and not necessary.

Great Story.

Very well read. Change of voice for characters makes it better to understand. And a woman for female characters voice is a good touch.

Intriguing!!!

I had never heard a two person narration of David Baldacci before. I must say that I was thoroughly pleased with the performance. I've been a fan of David Baldacci books since first reading "The Winner" in 1998 and I will say that he doesn't disappoint. I would recommend all of his books. Even though you know the genre he writes that doesn't mean his books will be in a cookie cutter plot. You never know what to expect from his books. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Voice over not to best

The ending needed more development. The Audible version voices overlapped characters. Tough to follow. I expected better.

DB ALWAYS comes through.

So there are similarities between Puller & Reacher, there are also differences. Both are extremely likable characters that I would love to have on my side and there is plenty of room in this messed up world for the both of them. I thought his book was excellent and Mr B NEVER disappoints. The characters were believable, likable or in the case of one, maybe not so much ... I will definitely read this one again and I would definitely recommend it to others. Narration ... par excellence as usual. I've already downloaded THE FORGOTTEN and am ready for my next good listen!

Nope

A lot of suspense. It kept my attention but I will never read Baldacci again because he did not take care of the main characters.

Good fill in til the next real Jack Reacher book

What did you love best about Zero Day?

I like the Reacher series and this reads like it belongs there

What other book might you compare Zero Day to and why?

Could easily fit into the Reacher series

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Performance good but below that clipped delivery I've grown to like in the Reacher books

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

Jack Reacher..John Puller. Really? I wonder how long until we get one staring Jim Lifter or Jonas Jumper. Both with brothers in distress, both with Army cop backgrounds. Still, until the next Reacher book, comes along its worth a credit, if you like the Reacher genre. Give it a listen.
