Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Lee Child follows the electrifying 61 Hours with his latest Reacher thriller—a story that hits the ground running and then accelerates all the way to a colossal showdown.

There’s deadly trouble in the corn country of Nebraska... and Jack Reacher walks right into it. First he falls afoul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it’s the unsolved case of a missing child, already decades-old, that Reacher can’t let go.

The Duncans want Reacher gone - and it’s not just past secrets they’re trying to hide. They’re awaiting a secret shipment that’s already late - and they have the kind of customers no one can afford to annoy. For as dangerous as the Duncans are, they’re just the bottom of a criminal food chain stretching halfway around the world.

For Reacher, it would have made much more sense to keep on going, to put some distance between himself and the hard-core trouble that’s bearing down on him.

For Reacher, that was also impossible.

Worth Dying For is the kind of explosive novel only Lee Child could write and only Jack Reacher could survive - a heart-racing, no-pause thriller no suspense fan will want to miss.

Take another thrill ride with Jack Reacher.

    "Classic, Kick-Butt Jack Reacher"

If you like Jack Reacher taking care of bad guys, defending women and children and prevailing against seemingly insurmountable odds, you will love the latest installment in the series. The violence is over-the-edge in this one and Reacher's vigilantism pushes the envelope, but Lee Child finally decided to give Reacher fans a large dose of what they long for. Dick Hill did an excellent job with his voice characterizations but I wish the sound editor could equalize the volume of his whispers and screams. Not that I was really in suspense, but we also sort of found out what happened to Reacher at the end of 61 Hours. Thankfully Child didn't feel the need to tease his readers in this one. Nonetheless, I look forward to the next installment.

    "Reacher is back..Stronger than ever!!!!"

Lee Child and Dick Hill are an unbeatable combination. This collaberation is reminiscent of the earlier Reacher books-and I couldn't be happier. And how better to portray that character than to give him a cavalier attitude towards all things permanent. A drifter who hitch-hikes throughout the US carrying maybe some money, a comb and toothbrush.

When he needs a change of clothes, he buys a new set and throws the old set away. (You would know this if you read all the previous Reacher books).
Not a care in the world. No responsibilities. And yet, when he stumbles upon evil doings in strange towns, he cannot just pass on by. Reacher feels compelled to tackle evil and right all wrongs before moving on.

This is the Jack Reacher I have come to love. Wow. Talk about a modern day hero. This is not your average, rich, James Bond character with fancy toys at his feet. Reacher reminds me a bit of John Wayne in those old Westerns where he always rescues the damsel in distress. Only, in this series, Reacher rescues entire communities.

I hope Lee Child never stops writing about Jack Reacher. And, of course, we could never do without Dick Hill's talent and ability to bring such a multi-faceted character to life in a big way. Thanks so much for a fabulous story. I could not put it down. The suspense kept growing right til the end. I listened to it all the way thru. Can't wait until the next book!! P.S. As someone who carries everything she owns when she travels, I spend lots of time trying to imagine making do with just what is in my pocket--never happen!!

    "Standard Reacher Novel"

Sure do like Jack, but his clairvoyance and now impunity to the law shows through in this less than his best novel.

    "Reacber never fails"

Lee Child never fails to entertain and Worth Dying For is one more fabulous novel in a line of great novels! You might think The Reacher character would be near the end, however Child has upped the anty one more time. I loved this one from start to finish. Worth Dying For has action from start to finish and has no filler in between. Dick Hill is the master of his craft and never so much as Reacher.
Thank you Mr Child for a wonderful ride and please keep them coming.

    "Worth dying for"

Lee Child has really grown as a writter from "The Killing Floor" to "Worth Dying For". I have listened to all his current books and Dick Hill is a real winner as a narrator. To me this was Child's best work. I am very much looking forward to "The Affair". I normally listen to my books in the car but Worth Dying For was so good I listened to it in the house as well. You can listent to the Jack Reacher books in any order you want, I did them in order and I like the way Child's builds on the earlier books. Very nice.

    "Plots are getting thinner ..."

One thing that seems common with all of the recent Jack Reacher novels is that they take place in rural areas where "anything" goes. He comes in, derives the truth, starts a bunch of confrontations resulting in all the bad guys trying to kill him and he kills all the bad guys in the end. This book is no different. It wasn't as exhilarating as his earlier novels and feels more like a "contract" written novel than anything. Lee Child is no Vince Flynn! The book was enjoyable, but I found myself day dreaming a little during several parts of it which is a sign of "plot filler" for me. I look forward to a future book where Lee really puts his heart and mind into it.

    "Jack is Back"

This is the action packed adventure ride readers expect from Lee Child and Jack Reacher. It wasn't quite up to 61 Hours, but still a reallly good book and well worth a listen.

"Not breaking any new ground, and that's fine by me"

Child works another great tale. I particularly enjoy the feeling of all the characters of being trapped and helpless and Reacher's arrival being the catalyst that changes the entire dynamic. It's like the best of stories that take place in a building or ship or some other locale where the characters are trapped together with no way out but to take violent action. It's like Die Hard in the middle of nowhere.

    "I'm hooked!"

This is my first Reacher novel and I'm hooked. I like the detail. I like the main character and the supporting cast. I like the plot. Perhaps I wouldn't make a good detective but it took me quite a while to figure out the smuggled cargo. This makes the story that much more interesting. Dick Hill does a fine job narrating although his female voices weren't that convincing.
I haven't READ a novel since I joined audible.com; I read other material (newspapers, journals, manuals, etc.). It is a luxury to have others read stories to you; and so much depends on the author-narrator combination. The Child-Hill team works and I look forward to my next download.

    "Reacher rides again!"

I love Jack Reacher books and have read them all, this one is one of my favorites. I love his thought processes and how he anticipates what the other guy is going to do and the subtle humor. Dick Hill does an EXCELLENT job of narrating.
