Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times best seller.

The blockbuster Jack Reacher series that inspired two major motion pictures and the upcoming streaming series Reacher.

There’s deadly trouble in the corn country of Nebraska...and Jack Reacher walks right into it. First he falls foul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it’s the unsolved case of a missing child, already decades old, that Reacher can’t let go.

The Duncans want Reacher gone - and it’s not just past secrets they’re trying to hide. They’re awaiting a secret shipment that’s already late - and they have the kind of customers no one can afford to annoy. For as dangerous as the Duncans are, they’re just the bottom of a criminal food chain stretching halfway around the world.

For Reacher, it would have made much more sense to keep on going, to put some distance between himself and the hard-core trouble that’s bearing down on him. For Reacher, that was also impossible.

Take another thrill ride with Jack Reacher.

One of the best Reachers.

Jack Reacher saves the day, again. This time he battles an evil family, their henchmen and assassins, all protecting a deep secret.

Enjoyed

Like most Jack Reacher novels, I enjoyed this one. I really liked how Lee Childs left us guessing until the very end as to the nature of the Ducans' business. Jack seemed at bit more "human" in this novel. Maybe age does that.

worth dying for....

love Reacher! new movie did not do him or Child justice. they should re-do the movies, get another actor, and let the material from Child dictate how the movies will play out. Never Go back too too many of their own liberties.

Another Jack Reacher!

A great listen with a great storyline that keeps you listening till the end. Great verbal performance by the actors. I had previously read the book and enjoyed it so I wanted to listen to it being performed and was not disappointed.

Thought Provoking!

Throughout most of the book I thought then Duncan’s were shipping drugs —it’s worse! Bringing to light the gruesomeness, greed, and violence of sex trafficking is alarming. The world needs more Jack Reachers!

Twists and Turns

I enjoyed how subplots intertwined to bring a great thriller together. Great continuing character development appreciated.

He's Back

Lee Child left me feeling he was getting rushed and a little stale, especially in his last book, "61 hours". On the one hand, I want an author to feel free to write what he wants, and not listen to the forum of reviewers too much, since much of that feedback will be inhibiting. Among the complaints was a lot of whining about not enough action. Well hey, I was one of the whiners, and maybe he listened just a bit, because... Hurray. This is the take no prisoners Reacher of old; operating for truth and justice, but not by the lawbook.
Some people don't like the wordy essays on random subjects, or the way it takes 4 pages sometimes between the cocking of a fist and the landing of a blow... I love it. I love the observations and the mini lectures.
Lee Child takes his time with this one, slowly building the story and keeping it going to new heights of tension and action. No abrupt ending either, but rather a nice wind-down.
Wildly implausible and illogical at times, but such a great ride I just don't care. Lee Child joins Steven Hunter and John Sanford as one of my favorites in the mystery-thriller genre.
