Vengeful Remorse

Riveting action and drama right to the ending you knew it needed. Narrators voice was outstanding.

Great Story, Poor Audio

Without Remorse is a fantastic story about one of the reappearing characters in many of Tom Clancy's books. I was absolutely captivated by the story from the very beginning, it even made me weepy a couple of times. Clancy is well known for rambling a little too much on unnecessary details, but he nailed it on this one. You really get to know the characters and the tense parts of the book make you grind your teeth.

The only complaint I have is the audio quality... It sounds like a senile old man is attempting to read you a book through two cans and a string.

Good book but...

Overall it was a good book but my biggest drawback is that it is based around someone that isn't in even half of the story. Building a character to all but brutually kill them is annoying. After that initial introduction of her and the following events I could never really commit to acepting Sandy later in the book. At first I had thought that yes he will go after the street thugs all the while developing a relationship with her something along those lines because it felt that even without anything else happening he was already planning something along the lines of what happened throughout the book. That said it was still a very well devoloped story. The narration was a bit slow so bumping the speed to 1.25ish helps move the story at a smooth pace. The narrator himself though does do a excellent job with the voices.
Pros Good Book
Cons Killing her off.....

Does the author help choose the narrator? If so...

Would you listen to Without Remorse again? Why?

No. Once is plenty. I don't think I could stand the narration again.

Would you recommend Without Remorse to your friends? Why or why not?

Good story, screwed up by the narrator. It sounds like a 50+ year old with a stick up his butt , trying to be a convincing 28 year old marine. Not likely.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Nope.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Old fart in a tough marine body. Let the snoring begin!

Any additional comments?

I am a Clancy fan, I will read/listen to more, but not by this narrator.

A great read

I did not expect it to be as good as the Jack Ryan books, but it was a great prequel.

Revenge and redemption<br />

Great to finally know John Clark's back story. His resiliency is remarkable. The existence of the drug thugs and their total disregard for human life is truly crushing.

Good book, good performance, horrible recording

I have to think there was some error when Audible uploaded this recording. Worst quality of any of the 40+ books I’ve listened to here. Like a 32 kbps mp3 recording. Please fix, Audible.

Lets Meet John Clark

Excellent Book. It maybe a little slow in the start but once it gets going it gets going. This is also the introduction to one of Tom Clancy’s most intriguing characters, John Clark a.k.a John Kelly. This book charts Clark’s rise as an young Vietnam veteran, to a trained agency asset who plays a pivotal role in many later Jack Ryan books. Highly recommended, especially if you have read any of Clancy’s other books and wondered where in the world John Clark got his start.

Four star story one star narration

Good Clancy story and introduction to a classic character but the narrator is horrendous. At one point I stopped to Google the name because I thought the narrator had to be a computer generated voice. If possible would definitely read rather than listen.
