Publisher's summary

Welcome to the Custer Hill Club, a men's club, set in a luxurious hunting lodge, whose members include America's powerful business leaders, military men, and government officials. The club is a place to relax with old friends, but one fall weekend, the club's Executive Board gathers to talk about 9/11 and finalize a retaliation plan, known by a code name: Wild Fire.

That weekend, a member of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force is found dead. It's up to Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield, to unravel a terrifying plot that starts with the Custer Hill Club and ends with American cities locked in the crosshairs of a nuclear device. Corey and Mayfield are the only ones who can prevent global chaos from being unleashed.

Critic reviews

"The novel presents a what-if scenario that's so plausible we have to remind ourselves that DeMille is making the whole thing up." (Booklist)
"This tour de force of relentless narrative power neither stops nor slows for twists or turns, but charges straight ahead in the face of danger." (Publishers Weekly)

Great book again

This book was as enjoyable as all of DeMille's audio books that I have been able to get at Audible. I could hardly stop listening until I got to the end. Love the John Corey character, and I think Scott Brick a great reader for this character. His sarcastic tone is really perfect.

wild farce

whereas I really liked "Lion's Gate" this stretched even more one's capacity to believe the impunity of Detective Corey’s rampant insubordination

Good from first to last

I liked the pace of this book in its entirety. Good characters, good story, and an added bonus of learning about some current technology which played a big part in making this story that much more believable. If you like other titles by this author you will love this one.

Wildfire

A great listen! Makes you wonder if there really isn't some truth to this story. If so,with the current idiot in the Whitehouse, we are in deep trouble. Where is John Cory when you need him.....

Great Listen!

No better intrigue than that written by Follett. Scott Brick does a marvelous job reading.

Far Fetched

Most of the Nelson Demille books are far fetched but I like the sarcasm of its main character. This one was just a bit out of my realm of believability.
