Somewhat unique Agatha Christie mystery

An intriguing story, charming young friends, she a young duchess, he just a guy, team up as the sleuths to solve a tangled and evil plot. Their light banter is fresh and fun in breezy 1920’s slang. The only problem was, as others have said, the performance was annoying. The voices Ms. Fox provides for the characters are not just poor they are awful and hard to listen to. It was hard to tell at times who was talking because the voices were so odd or inappropriate. Some shrill, some inappropriately gruff. Odd choice for a performer. But the story was good enough to keep me listening.

Narrator is completely fine!

I was very close to not getting this book because of all the hate on the narrator. It’s all very misplaced. The story is great, narration is not at all distracting or whatever else, totally worth it.

Great story but painful to listen to Emilia

I love this story, many characters and non obvious plot. However this audio book version is very painful to listen to. Emilia Fox is a terrible narrator and tried too hard to do different accents and voices such that they come off strange and sometimes shrill. Sometimes her voice was also hoarse. I wish Hugh Fraser had narrated this instead.

One of my favorites!

I've read most of Agatha Christie's books and this is one of her best! Very nicely read.

Better than the TV versions

I loved it. I would encourage anyone who likes Christy books to try this stand alone story.

A Favorite Christie's by A Favorite Narrator

Love the naivete of the main characters! No pompous gray cells here. Just bungling luck.

Delightful, Classic Agatha Christie

A big Agatha Christie fan, I had not read (or listened to) Why Didn't They Ask Evans? I thoroughly enjoyed this fun whodunit from the queen of mysteries. The narration was superb, the pacing of the novel excellent, and the characters memorable. Great fun!

the story was fun , narrator needs better voices

The men's voices all sounded like a woman trying to sound like a man. Kind of distracting at times, but overall fairly well done.A very very fun story.
