Publisher's summary

"Everyone likes a page-turner, and Follett is the best."—The Philadelphia Inquirer

"A hell of a storyteller" (Entertainment Weekly), #1 New York Times bestselling author Ken Follett reinvents the thriller with each new novel. But nothing matches the intricate knife-edge drama of Whiteout. . . .

A missing canister of a deadly virus. A lab technician bleeding from the eyes. Toni Gallo, the security director of a Scottish medical research firm, knows she has problems, but she has no idea of the nightmare to come.

As a Christmas Eve blizzard whips out of the north, several people, Toni among them, converge on a remote family house. All have something to gain or lose from the drug developed to fight the virus. As the storm worsens, the emotional sparks—jealousies, distrust, sexual attraction, rivalries—crackle; desperate secrets are revealed; hidden traitors and unexpected heroes emerge. Filled with startling twists at every turn, Whiteout rockets Follett into a class by himself.

Great story

This book is a very entertaining listen. I commend the narrator, who brought it to life, voicing each character effectively. Ken Follett always develops a tight story line, staying (sometimes just) within credulity and delivering lots of action. Great story!

Sorry Follett

I usually love Ken Follett. It was a slog to get through this book. Narrator not the right pick for this book.

Not Follett’s best

I love Ken follett’s historical fiction, the story lines are so intricate. This book set in modern times didn’t hit the mark. The basic plot was intriguing but pretty simple, characters not that interesting and the story had to be beefed up with chases, fights and non suspenseful series of events.

Follet Delivers another masterpiece

Enjoyed the novel. Follet is a master writer; this book full of excitement. The narration is good. Josephine does a good job creating excitement. If you like Evening and the Morning, then you'll like this book.

This book is a page turner.😊

This was a bookclub book chosen by a member in my group. I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy the book with the pandemic and all. It was suspenseful and I liked the insight of each character.

very disappointing

I started reading Ken Follett with Pillars of the Earth, and his historical novels about WWI-II . amazingly excellent books.
whiteout however seems like it must have been written by someone else entirely. this book was just dumb. the story was told badly. the characters were one dimensional. it was a chore to finish it.
the son of a scientist who does research on Level 4 biological viruses steals from his father's company and is fired and the security chief DOES NOT change the pass codes for the lab after he leaves??? are you kidding me?? and SHE is the hero of the story?? arghghg! and it just gets more stupid as you continue to read....

Scene at family home belabored

Story was good, but dragged on. Rescue implausible. Not the stuff I remember of Ken Follett's books.

Follett bats 1000

He just never lets the reader down. Josephine Baker was also talented and not distracting.

White out - Binding Story

Excellent story which kept you suspense all along. The story of 24 hours event looks terrible and breath taking. Enjoyed.
