Publisher's summary

Forty-seven-year-old housewife Marge Christensen finds her husband, Gene, dead in their garage, slumped over the steering wheel of his still running BMW. The police rule the death a suicide. Marge does not believe Gene killed himself and determines to discover what really happened to him. In the process, she discovers all their money is missing. So, what was Gene doing before he died? Why did he die? And what was she going to do now?

An applied arts major in college, Marge has never worked outside the home. Except for a little volunteer work with children, she has neglected her art talents while being a full time homemaker and mother. Now, with grown children and no husband, she is also faced with no money, no job, and no credentials.

Although likely suspects for murder and fraud do not abound in the suburban community of Bellevue, Washington, with perseverance and basic sleuthing, Marge discovers the truth - in spite of the doubts and cautions from the police, her two adult children, and hovering and obsessively attentive neighbors.

A Great Story Very Well Read!

This book was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. The story has a good rhythm and keeps you interested. I'm hooked and have already downloaded the whole set.

Darla Middlebrook makes the story come alive with her clever ability to create separate voices for each character as well as her very animated narration. Brava to author and narrator!

It's all about the money

This is an ok mystery, but very unrealistic. I can't believe most of the actions of the lead character. I also can't believe how much this story focused on money rather than the relationship between Marge and Gene. The narrator doesn't help. She sounds a bit too old for the characters and makes almost everyone sound whiny.
