Publisher's summary

In L.A., Cassie Black is another beautiful woman in a Porsche: except Cassie just did six years in prison and still has "outlaw juice" flowing in her veins. Now Cassie is returning to her old profession, taking down a money man in Vegas. But the perfect heist goes very wrong, and suddenly Cassie is on the run - with a near-psychotic Vegas "fixer" killing everyone who knew about the job.

Between Cassie and the man hunting her are a few last secrets: like who really set up the job, why Cassie had to take the chance, and how, in the end, it might all be a matter of the moon....

No Disappointment Here!

Would you consider the audio edition of Void Moon to be better than the print version?

Didn't read the print version but thoroughly enjoyed the audio version. Couldn't be worse.

What other book might you compare Void Moon to and why?

Void Moon is not your typical book nor is the main character a typical character. First of all, she is a known thief and con artist so would not be thought of as a hero and yet, if she is not a hero, she becomes one. No book for comparison immediately comes to mind.

What about L. J. Ganser’s performance did you like?

I really like both Len Cariou and Dick Hill so I was not familiar with L. J. Ganser. However, I kept an open mind and was not disappointed. While I can easily remember the title of the book and author, the narrator's name is not so memorable. But when I just looked him up while writing this, his voice was once again very familiar so I will try to remember him in the future. He grew on me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think when Cassie was talking to Jack toward the end and he was telling her the history about Max, I really felt for her. But I drew my own conclusion in the end, as must have Cassie, that Jack was not telling the truth. Also, her relationship with Max was very moving -- apparently two lost souls who found each other, only to lose each other again.

Any additional comments?

A book by the Harry Bosch author with no Harry Bosch? I was reserved before reading this book as I couldn't imagine better characters than Harry Bosch, Jack McAvoy, Mickey Haller and Terry McCaleb, but he's done it again! Loved Cassie like his others! Keep 'em coming!

An Excellent Stand-alone Novel by Michael Connelly

The reader/listener becomes more and more consumed with discovering who Cassy Black is and how did this flawed character get to where she is. When we discover the secrets of Cassy's past we hardly have time for satisfaction because we are hurrying to turn pages or speeding up the narration to discover what is going to happen to her and how will she resolve her challenges. This was an excellent thriller by the author of the Harry Bosch series.

Loved it!

A new character for Michael Connelly and this is the only novel that features her. She does play a small role in another book, but you don't even find out it is her until the following book in the series.

Michael Connelly is a huge talent and his books are among my favorites. I am constantly amazed by how intricate his stories become with so much personality that I'm in awe of where he draws it all from.

Void Moon is not to be missed!

Well read, well written.

It was a classic story, but with enough twists and turns to keep you engaged. read very well by the narrator.

What would you do for a happy ending?

After a heist went wrong, the body count starts to rise in Cassie’s life. She should have gone with her first gut feeling and took the money and ran, but she didn’t she trusted Leo. Now the money is gone and nobody seems to know where it is. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, it contains secrets, burglary, betrayal, lies, murder, conspiracy, mystery, and expense. No one knows who anyone is or who you can trust in this book, one of the best books I have heard from Michael Connelly. This is a book that you will want to listen to in one sitting. My favorite character is Cassie of course, she is the main character but she is a woman who only wants her happy ending and she is willing to do whatever she needed to have her happy ending, there is only one thing in her way of getting that happen ending and that is a man named Cartch. She must be very careful when dealing with him, because he doesn’t care about anyone or anything, and he knows all the right people in order to evade getting caught for criminal acts he performs. The end will make you cry but Cassie has a very hard decision to make and to me she does the right thing even though it is the hardest thing she has ever had to do.

Slow start, and then nearly unbearable suspense.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I have been a Connelly fan for some time, but this book is outstanding even for him. The book has more twists than Nixon. It is well plotted, very well written, and scary.

What did you like best about this story?

The theft scenes.

What does L. J. Ganser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I did read the book. Audio books are a different experience entirely. Ganser just right for this. His voice just right for both Cassie and the psychopath tracking her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All the Vegas scenes. Connelly gets Vegas the way he gets LA

Any additional comments?

It's Michael Connelly. There are lots of good mystery writers, but Connelly is always compelling, never dull. The last four hours got me so spellbound, I dropped everything, lit a fire in the fireplace, and just gave over to it. This is one of his very best. And without even Harry Bosch.
