Eight years ago federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.
Now in Vampire Sun, private investigator Samantha Moon looks into the bizarre disappearance of a woman who enters a Starbucks, but never leaves. Her distraught husband, a person of interest, hires Sam when a Corona Police Department detective gets killed and the case grows cold.
In addition, Sam's former guardian angel - now a fallen angel - makes another, startling appearance. Not to mention, Kingsley, her cheating werewolf lawyer ex-boyfriend, is trying to win her back...at all costs. Daughter Tammy's psychic powers are growing exponentially, as are her best friend Allison's, and son Anthony deals with school violence and starts boxing lessons with his own supernatural strength. Just one big, happy, paranormal family.
Most of all, Sam needs to get her hands on the fourth medallion. Fang, her former friend and love interest, has the diamond medallion, which reputedly will restore mortality, yet allow a vampire certain powers. Needless to say, Sam will do almost anything to get it. But the demoness within Sam threatens to kill the last shreds of her humanity. Suddenly, killing for blood doesn't seem that heinous. Sam knows if she doesn't get that diamond medallion soon, it could be the end of her conscience...and the end of all that she loves most.

I really wish J. R. Rain would write a full length novel instead of these short novellas. But I have been saying that since I stumbled on to this series. Never the less, I love this series and have read every book in it. Each book shows character and plot development. Samantha Moon is always awesome and I'm glad Fang is back and is friendly with Samantha again. I'm also happy that Samantha and Kingsley have are becoming friendly again. I can't wait for the next book.
The story is good, but the author over uses the words weird weirdos, and freaks. To the point were I question if I really want to finish the series. Another issue I have is the novellas bleed over. I know a lot of authors write novellas, but never have I felt like I may have missed a book or two.
Yes, for a laugh or two in this genre. Pure fluff and fun
Any other jrr rain, he does these campy books so well
I hear tongue in cheek in the reading and it camps it up more.
Passing through not really moved

Well, I have been enthrawled by the series ever since I read the first book.
I love the way that Dina Pearlman Narrated it. I have laughed, cried ^ even been on the edge of my seat, litterally.
I cant wait for Book 10 - Moon Dragon - Vampire for Hire !!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I'm beginning to love all of J. R. Rain's books.Narrated by Dina Pearlman. No other should Narrate his books just like -
The Nightwalkers, The World of Nightwalkers, The Shadowdwellers (Jacquelyn Frank) Narrated By Xe Sands, Dark (CARPATHIAN) Series (Christine Feehan) Narrated By Phil Gigante, Natalie Ross,
Chicagoland Vampires (Chloe Neill) can only be Narrated by Cynthia Holloway,
His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman) Narrated By Philip Pullman, Full Cast
Immortals After Dark (Kresley Cole) Narrated By Robert Petkoff
Jane Yellowrock (Faith Hunter) Narrated By Khristine Hvam, just like all of Molly Harper's books are Narrated By Amanda Ronconi,
Anna Strong (Jeanne C. Stein) Narrated By Jeanne C. Stein, Midnight Liaisons (Jessica Sims) Narrated By Leah Mallach, and
Kismet Knight, Vampire Psychologist (Lynda Hilburn) Narrated By Hillary Huber.
These are just to name a few of my favs.
They just truly bring the books to life.
The way they are written & Narrated are what keep me coming back for more. The Narrators are a perfect marriage to these books any one else would have messed them up. These Narrators are so good that any one of them could have done all of these books and I would not have been disappointed :)
I really don't have one because the whole book is my fav but if I must choose, then the one in the book where Sam has to pick up the kids from school late and the opening where she talks about her fav shoe Judge Judy :o
Get ready for some kick ass action, family love, comedy and fear all mixed up in weird. You will never leave your home again !
I can't wait for more Sam and her family. A book basted on the kids and their powers would be cool too. I sometime imagine that Sam takes the kids on a holiday in bat form.
Also, when are all of Vampire for Hire - Samantha Moon First 8 Short be in audible ?????????
Totally addicted! It's possible I might need Audible rehab.
I'm a fan of the series but this one seemed a bit slower than the others with less going on to keep my interest. Hoping the next is back on track.
