A classic, presented to advantage.

Would you listen to Unnatural Death again? Why?

I do not tend to listen to books twice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unnatural Death?

All the repartee between Wimsey and Parker.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Wimsey pays a visit to the villainess posing as her alter ego

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it is sufficiently complex that one wants to,pause to digest.

A Classic Mystery that holds up well over time.

I’ve read the Lord Peter Whimsey Mysteries several times previously; this was my 1st time listening to the audio available in the Audible Plus program. I recommend Unnatural Death to readers who enjoy Classic English Mysteries. Ian Carmichael did a fine job.

Lord Peter to the Soloution!

When Lord Peter gets an intuition there is no stopping him. And there is much more to this tale than meets the unwary eye.
I enjoy Ian Carmichael's reading - it flows very well and is a lovely speed (even Lord P's excited utterances can be understood - at least by this Yank!).

I will be delighted when more are available in the long spaces between titles [hint hint Audible]

Interesting

This is my first Lord Peter Whimsey book, even though it is the third one in the series. I enjoyed it and I will look forward to more.

Excellent Lord Peter Wimsey!

Dorothy Sayers is renown for her Lord Peter Wimsey novels for a good reason.. they are great!

I suppose this would be classified as an English detective cozy. The hero follows the clues and we follow along. He gets the criminal in the end, but the joy is in the process.

This installment is before Harriet Vane, evidently. But, the mystery is great, the logic trail terrific.. classic Wimsey.

Ian Carmichael does an absolutely marvelous job narrating.

I highly recommend this to anyone liking classic English detective mysteries.

Must listen

Dorothy Sayers writing with Ian Carmichael as narrator is truly a beautiful experience. Now only if Audible will put up the rest of the series I'd do my best to kiss a app.

Let's get all of Lord Peter on Audible!

Ian Carmichael's performance is wonderful. E has a charming voice that is pleasant to listen to. But he also captures the many different voices in the story.
If you like the classic British who done it featuring an eccentric amateur detective, this is for you. The plot keeps you engaged, but in a relaxing way.

A Vintage Mystery Classic

What did you love best about Unnatural Death?

In the style of vintage classic mysteries, this story has the English village setting I love and a rich cast of quirky characters to tell the story.

My favorite character has to be the spunky spinster who is commissioned to ferret out the truth among the lies. Lord Peter sees the value of her skills and places great faith in her natural abilities. I love it that she works to play the part with such enthusiasm that she purchases woolen under garments to complete the look. Lol. I'm not sure who she expects will see these articles of woolen under clothing but perhaps she is wanting to play it safe just in case there is a stiff breeze or something.

What did you like best about this story?

The story has the element of an unexpected family member entering the picture but this one enters with a back story that would have been scandalous at the time. It has a few twists and turns that make it a fun read.

What does Ian Carmichael bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ian Carmichael's reading of the story is just right allowing the listener to form vivid mental images of of the characters and and the mystery being presented.

I found his voice to be interesting but also soothing to listen to. It's just what I'm looking for while trying to escape for a while.

Any additional comments?

I'm a big fan of classic detective stories. If you hold up Agatha Christie's works as the standard for the genre then Dorothy Sayers is not quite at the top but certainly approaching the upper end of good clean fun mystery reading.

Ian Carmichael, the Best there is!

I wish Audible could get all the Carmichael performances of Sayers. NO one does it better. He can move from voice to voice and accent to accent with ease. He is loved and missed.
