Whew..........

I really enjoy this series, however, this book is incredible. With a profound story line, subtle sarcasm and HOT HOT HOT love scenes, this is my favorite!!! BUT, lets not mention this narrator who almost made me start smoking!!!!

Bravo and I look forward to the rest of the books..................

Absolutely loved it except...

STORY (romance) - I have loved all three books in this series so far. The romances are HOT and the background stories are really, really good! In this story Mark and Sophie share a special night in high school, then he leaves to serve his Country in Afghanistan. They happen to meet again 12 years later -- I'm really condensing here -- and they quickly find themselves on the run. There are some bad guys after them, and they're also fugitives from the law.

The story is complex and exciting. Mark and Sophie sizzle, which leads me to my only real complaint about this story. I had to move the narration speed up to 2X a couple times to get through the sex scenes. I wouldn't say there's too much sex (I'd guess maybe 15 minutes in the whole book) but it was beyond my personal limits and I was anxious to jump past the passion and get back to the story. Otherwise, I loved the characters, their plight and the ending!! It's really a good book.

PERFORMANCE - As far as I'm concerned, the only person who should ever narrate a romance is Kaleo Griffith. Wouldn't you much rather hear a young, sexy man's voice than a woman reading a romance? His voice is husky and sensitive. Perfection!

OVERALL (Actual overall rating 4.5) - The books in this series stand alone. There is character development running through the series, but it's not important enough to really worry about listening to the books in order. There's quite a bit of profanity, explicit sex, and the topic of rape is addressed multiple times. There's some violence, but not a lot and it's not the gory kind. I'd say this is a must-read for adult females who like hot romances.

Loved the Hero, but Heroine was slow on the uptake

Not quite a 4 because the heroine was a bootleg reporter. How can Sophie be an I-Team reporter when she was so naive, dense, unobservant, passive and just slow on the uptake?
Great narration. This guy has done a great job telling this story.

Sophie Alton and her brother grew up with her grandmother after her parents died in a car crash. In a spontaneous act when she was 16, she had sex with her high school crush, a senior guy she only knew as Hunt. Hunt left for the military the day after, and Sophie never heard from him again.

12 years later, Sophie worked as an I-team reporter and she was working on a story with drug addicted inmates and the pregnancies behind bars. One of her subjects Meghan went missing with her newborn baby and drugs were found in her cell. A man hunt ensued for the missing convict and the newborn baby. Meghan's brother decided that this interested reporter, Sophie, would be his key in finding his sister. So the convicted murder Marc Hunter set up an interview with Sophie and then held her hostage and escaped.

During this hostage situation, Sophie found out that Marc Hunter was her "Hunt". He told her his story and she had to figure out if she trusted him enough to jeopardize her career and get to the bottom of who framed him, Meghan and what was going on in that correctional facilities.

What I enjoyed about this series is the author tackles pretty serious topics. And the author goes all in. Not the fluffy stuff. The series is also well written. The heroine was a bit slow, but I loved Marc. He was a stand up guy.

Good story with Best male narrator!

Any additional comments?

Ok. This is a fun story with suspense, action, nice modern romance, and some humor. So the story is fun, but the narration is awesome!
I had not liked any other male narrators for romance, they usually have trouble with female voices and read sex scenes like they were a battle scene, or they over act it.
But Kaleo Griffith is PERFECT!!! He has a rich sexy voice, does diverse voices and accents, acts the story perfectly without over acting, has perfect pace, and his interpretation just adds to the romance!
This book is much better being listen to, because of his reading. Very well done all through this series! Get it, you will not be disappointed.
Audible, bring more Kaleo Griffith please...and give him romance to read!

The suspense and relationship between Sophie and Hunt. OMG!!! I didn't want to stop listening and when it was over, I was a little disappointed. At least I can listen again.

Utterly Riveting

What an awesome story, with unforgettable characters and a plot that will twist your guts in all sorts of directions. If you like light, fluffy books that you can listen to with "half an ear", this isn't the book for you. If you like action packed, emotionally intense books with a fabulous plot that take a serious look at very real but often unexplored social issues, then this book, heck, this whole series, just might be for you!

Unlawful Contact made me think about a few things that were frankly, quite uncomfortable to think about. It made me consider seriously how vulnerable inmates are to their jailers, how easy it is for these jailers to become jaded and corrupt. It made me think about how convicts have no real voice when it comes to defending themselves against abuse. It also showed how easy it is to be "framed" for a crime, and how just the accusation of wrongdoing can ruin a person's life. It made me consider how much trust we put in law enforcement personnel, and how things can go badly wrong when that trust is misplaced.

Besides the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, messages in this book, the story itself is fast paced and action packed. Hunt is on the run, Sophie is an investigative journalist who, in the course of doing her job, gets caught up in his adventure. They have a past, and they have a very hot present, but do they have a future?

I've really enjoyed this series so far, but this book is definitely my favorite. It truly hit the nail on the head when it comes to benchmark romantic suspense. There was a couple of times when things got so intense I had to hit the pause button and compose myself.

Kaleo Griffith read this book with professional perfection. He kept me spellbound with his flawless pacing. I can't imagine anyone doing it better.

Intense!!

Read out of order but this was one of the best very intense along with steamy romance. Enjoy the mystery and extra happy they got all the bad Guys. Don't want to give the story away but each book is well worth the cost or credit and I rated book two before I finish it. That type of story line I normally would not pay a dime for but the romance and love story was awesome and the sexy voice of Kaleo is perfect with each book and slightly different than the next and a remarkable job on even the ladies voices. Book one is still my favorite and book four comes in 2nd.

Any additional comments?

I have always had a love of reading and now with dimming eyesight , I have transferred that love to audio books. This author, Pamela Clare, is one of my top 5 authors. I held my breath, cried and laughed out loud. Probably even learned a good bit about journalism . She makes it real.

Predictable & dragged out. Sex boring & juvenile

Would you try another book from Pamela Clare and/or Kaleo Griffith?

Yes. This is their second novel I read, but the first was better so I'll try again.

What was most disappointing about Pamela Clare’s story?

One story line, boring, predictable. I was utterly bored especially by the juvenile reminiscing of the high school one nighter shared by the characters. Fifteen years later we are to believe that the only woman the imprisoned character thought of during his six years of incarceration was this woman he had one night with...despite the fact that he's smoking hot? We are supposed to believe the 'hottest' guy in the school and the sophomore girl who grew up to be the 'great' reporter she aspired to be, who shared the one nighter with the hottest guy in the senior class...we are to believe she didn't know his real name in high school? That is an important premise to believing a lot of what happened to this "smart" reporter.

What about Kaleo Griffith’s performance did you like?

He is very good.

Did Unlawful Contact inspire you to do anything?

no
