Publisher's Summary

In the trauma center of Atlanta's busiest hospital, Sara Linton treats the city's poor, wounded, and unlucky - and finds refuge from the tragedy that rocked her life in rural Grant County. Then, in one instant, Sara is thrust into a frantic police investigation, coming face-to-face with a tall, driven detective and his quiet female partner.

In Undone, three unforgettable characters from Karin Slaughter's New York Times best-selling novels Faithless and Fractured collide for the first time, entering an electrifying race against the clock - and a duel with unspeakable human evil.

In the backwoods of suburban Atlanta, where Sara's patient was found, local police have set up their investigation. But Georgia Bureau of Investigation detective Will Trent doesn't wait for the go-ahead from his boss - he plunges through police lines, through the brooding woods, and single-handedly exposes a hidden house of horror. Then he finds another victim.

Wresting the case away from the local police chief, Will and his partner, Faith Mitchell - a woman keeping explosive secrets of her own - are called into a related investigation. Another woman has been snatched. For the two cops out on the hunt, for the doctor trying to bring her patient back to life, the truth hits like a hammer: The killer's torture chamber has been found, but the killer is still at work.

    "SERIES IN WRONG ORDER!!!!!!"

Love the books, great series.....but I was disappointed to listen to Broken before Undone. Read/listen to Undone first. Broken happens after the Undone novel. After reading Triptych and Fractured, I was excited to start Broken. Right from the beginning, I felt like I missed a book. I went back to the series list, just to make sure I downloaded the right book. Audible, please fix. Triptych, Fractured, Undone, Broken. Starting Criminal now.

A former accountant and staff trainer. Now retired, I enjoy knitting and weaving. I enjoy intelligent, insightful books with lead characters I respect. I deplore novels fille with gratuitous violence and depraved sexual behavior written to shock the reader.

What did you like best about Undone? What did you like least?

Narrator was quite good. Main characters were realistic people and not

Would you ever listen to anything by Karin Slaughter again?

Unlikely. The book description and other reviews did not allude to the sadistic, ugly narrative.

    "Slaughter's got it goin on!"

Once again I flew through this one. By now, this is my fourth venture into Slaughter World, I've become so engrossed in the lives of her characters that I have to finish the entire series.

Why only 4 stars? Well my first 3 experiences were homeruns but this one is a solid double. Many thanks to the reviewer tip that alerted us that the order was wrong.

I liked the narrator, but she's in competition with 3 superior performances.

If you like a really good mystery with great writing and characters you can identify with, you'll love this one!

    "Great Story"

This was my first time to listen to a Karin Slaughter book... It was great!
This author was right up there with my favorites. Tami Hoag, J.D. Robb, Tess Gerritsen to name a few
It was one of those that you couldn't stop listening to.

"Best mashup of Grant County and Will Trent series!"
Where does Undone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A good series.. good characters, strong audio narration and good tie in ending.

Would you be willing to try another book from Karin Slaughter? Why or why not?

I had purchased Broken, and had read reviewers who had suggested reading Undone first as a tie in. I am very happy I did. Very good.

Which character – as performed by Natalie Ross – was your favorite?

    Faith Mitchell.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Finding out who the bad guy was near the end.. a bonus, where you sometimes guess it and have to wade thru chapters before the main characters find out. Enjoyed the multi-dimension personalities of the characters who keep you reading or listening.

    Any additional comments?

Very graphic in describing the disgusting treatment of the women abducted. If your faint of heart, or bothered by this, then don't read it.

I have always loved to read. As a child my mom actually grounded me from books if I was in trouble. Noone can do that now. Yay!

"another home run by Ms Slaughter"
What made the experience of listening to Undone the most enjoyable?

I like Ms Slaughter's writing style very much. She slowly exposes you to both her characters and her stories. I am a reader who looks for characters that I love to know -- they do not need to be likable they just have to be interesting. And Ms Slaughter gives me very unique, completely believable and highly imperfect characters. Will is likable and confusing. He is someone I can imagine that I may not like upon our first meeting. Faith is big-hearted and yet so snarky. Amanda is not at all likable and yet I feel as though it comes from her own insecurities. Each of them is full of flaws and I love that. And then their are the plot lines. Each book builds slowly and the pieces of the puzzle aren't all laid upon the table at the start. It feels like some pieces have remained in the box, others fell under the couch; and my little brother stole a few just to confuse me. Too often in mysteries there is no mystery, but Ms Slaughter doesn't let you guess the ending right from the Prologue. I love that.

What other book might you compare Undone to and why?

Her style reminds me a bit of John Sandford's though his crimes are more grisly in my opinion. And the character development reminds me a bit of early books from Patricia Cornwall. However, her main characters are too "perfect" for my liking. Will is messier which is a really great thing.

"This book is a great listen."
If you could sum up Undone in three words, what would they be?

Even though I haven't yet finished this book it's good. Only problem I had is it repeats itself so far 3 different time. I only have 37 min. left but I think I know how it's going to end. Maybe I should of waited until then, but I have enjoyed this book and thought you all should know.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Will Trent of course.

What about Natalie Ross’s performance did you like?

I like her voice. She doesn't make me crazy like some.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wish I could but didn't have 16 hours to spare.

    Any additional comments?

I'm going to finish this book now. Hope all enjoy it as much as I have.

    "Very Well Done"

Like the other books in this series, Ms. Slaughter has written a story that plugs something really evil into a good mystery.

It's like after about 20 years as a police officer someone chooses 6 or 7 of the worst crimes experienced and writes about them.

These books are not for the weak at heart, but they are good choices for mystery lovers.

This particular narrator does not appeal to me. It is a shame all the books in the series weren't read by the same narrator, but as usual there seems no rhyme or reason how narrators are chosen for these audio books. This narrator took this book down a star for me.
