Publisher's summary

Sixteen-year-old Allie has already experienced a lifetime of horror, having lost her mother and serial killer brother to mental illness.

Returning to her childhood home in Louisiana, Allie ends up in foster care and is placed with Miss Bitty, an eccentric but kindly older woman who shows her a new direction and brighter future.

But Allie's new life takes a devastating turn when young women in the area start turning up dead, and she begins to see shadowy figures outside her bedroom. As Miss Bitty grows inexplicably distant, a nagging voice makes Allie wonder if death has found her yet again...or if it never really left her at all.

Spellbinding and Hungry for More!

From the first chapter I was hooked--absolutely did not want to stop listening. Characters were so well defined and were alive for me! The book sucked me into it! Stimulating and at the end, I took a deep breath and wished Ms Biddy and Allie blue skies and green lights in their new home! Thanks, Jennifer, for another great story!

Gripping!!

An absolutely amazing follow up sequel. Jaynes is far and away one of the best novelist I have read in a long time. The story line is exceptional and suspenseful. The main characters are real and engaging. This book will keep you immersed until the end and leave you guessing. If you're looking for something to keep you up at night far after you've finished reading then this is the book for you!! Can't wait to read the final installment.

Serial killer hunter

This book was very different from most killer and prey books that I have read. It was enjoyable!

What an amazing author

I love this series it has been my introduction to another great writer. This series is suspenseful and a Southern Noir. The mental illness runs deep in this family and it is amazing how attracted you will become to them hoping they can turn their lives around.

Kept Me Guessing

This was the second book in the series. I read the first book a few years ago and I was afraid it wouldn't make sense to me, as I couldn't remember the details. No worries - the author gave you enough information about the back story so that this one makes sense; it would have been fine even if I hadn't read the first one.

I thought that this was well written, the characters were well developed, and the story was fast paced. I kept going back and forth between who the killer was; there were only a few suspects, but there was enough information given about each one that you vacillated between one person and another. There were a few times i was absolutely sure that I knew where the story was going, but at the end, there was a twist that I didn't foresee. I enjoy mysteries where the author gives you enough info so that the big reveal isn't an out of the blue character, but at the same time keeps you guessing. I thought the characters of Ally and Biddy were well developed and interesting.
