Publisher's summary

After his wife, Helen, is brazenly abducted before his eyes, Special Agent Pendergast furiously pursues the kidnappers, chasing them across the country and into Mexico. But then, things go terribly, tragically wrong; the kidnappers escape; and a shattered Pendergast retreats to his New York apartment and shuts out the world.

But when a string of bizarre murders erupts across several Manhattan hotels - perpetrated by a boy who seems to have an almost psychic ability to elude capture - NYPD Lieutenant D'Agosta asks his friend Pendergast for help. Reluctant at first, Pendergast soon discovers that the killings are a message from his wife's kidnappers. But why a message? And what does it mean?

When the kidnappers strike again at those closest to Pendergast, the FBI agent, filled anew with vengeful fury, sets out to track down and destroy those responsible. His journey takes him deep into the trackless forests of South America, where he ultimately finds himself face to face with an old evil that - rather than having been eradicated - is stirring anew... and with potentially world-altering consequences.

Confucius once said: "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, first dig two graves." Pendergast is about to learn the hard way just how true those words still ring.

Very emotional, intense follow-up.

The 3rd book in this "sub series" of Pendergast novels was very thrilling to say the least. Lots of twists and turns. Very emotional. I cant wait to start the next book. This little "sub series" definitely went deep into Pendergast instead of the usual outside story, but it was a great change of pace and incredibly engaging. As always, Rene Auberjonois did an outstanding job narrating!

Thoughtful and complex

I’ve very much enjoyed the Pendergast books and hopefully can continue to do so for a long time. Rene Auberjonois makes the characters come to life! An excellent performance on all!

An Outstanding Story Buiilder

"Two Graves" is another brilliant episode in the on-going saga of Special Agent Pendergast! The story is fast-paced and exciting, revealing new truths about the central characters with a breathtaking richness of description, detail, and emotion. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series.

Note: While the first three Endergast novels could bee stand-alone stories, these later novels really should be read on order, to get the full picture of the unfolding tale.

Villains worthy of James Bond.

Some of these novels are getting a little “out there”. I prefer the Pendergast of the original novels over the Pendergast that has special abilities and seemingly unlimited resources.

A WINNER, Preston and Child HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!

Would you listen to Two Graves again? Why?

Oh yes it was fun and it the style of these two authors I love.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Graves?

When Pendagast one of my most beloved characters discovered he has a son. I was floored and happy for him!

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh Rene is incredible, with his years of experience as a well seasoned actor he really helps make this book a huge winner. Hope they use Rene more.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Dr. Felder (?spelling) realised he was in love with Constance, I had suspected as much but you all know how men can be, stupid about love! LOL!

Any additional comments?

I am never disappointed by Preston and Child I love their stuff. I am a 55 year old female, married 38 years, with children and grandchildren and I am an elected official in my county. I love the way their books take me out of my everyday life into adventure, fun and sometimes scary stuff!
