For the students of Ariel College, a siege mentality has developed following weeks of media interest in 'the Cambridge Butcher'. University life has become not about surviving their exams, but simply about surviving.
Forensic psychiatrist Matthew Denison is sure that his traumatised patient has the killer's identity locked in her memory; that within the little clique she belonged to lurks someone with a grudge. Someone who thought: 'What's a little decapitation between friends?' Someone who has yet to finish settling their score....

Although a bit confusing at times, jumping backward and forward in time did add to this story of a group of students attending the same college at Cambridge University who are seemingly targeted by a serial murderer. And as if this wasn't enough mental whiplash, my certainty as to the identity of the potential killer changed almost by the minute. The ending was a bit weak, but by that time I was ready for a bit of a rest anyway.
This book deserves more than 5 stars. I listened to it almost in one sitting and was gripped from start to finish. It is so much more than a Whodunnit and a forensic psychiatrist as the lead character makes an interesting change from a pathologist. I wish I could find something else she has written - I would buy it like a shot! Beautifully read which is an added bonus.
One of the best, and darkest, stories we've listened to. So many twists and turn. Well written, superbly read.
A brilliantly written novel with a very clever plot. Highly Recommended.
When I began this book, I found it very confusing and tedious and have to confess that I almost gave up on it!......
.However, mid way through the first part of the book, the plot and psychological aspects began to emerge and I found myself hooked. I had to stay alert to be able to follow the constant jumps back and forth in time, but ultimately, this book is gripping to the end.
I really enjoyed it and am very glad I did not give up listening when the going got tough!
"One to keep you listening...."
One of those audio books that you just dont want to turn off... Well written and narrated, with more twists and turns than you would think possible in 10 hours. From the first chapter you believe in the characters and how they interact. Good plot and story that doesn't go over the top like some serial killer books. One you sit down and become immersed in, rather than a book you listen to while doing other things.
"Didn't want it to end!"
Excellent, well-written murder mystery with credible characters and original plot. I'd not heard of the author before buthighly recommend.
This is great crime story, keeps you guessing who the killer is a great twist in the end,i did not expect it.
Very detailed, and very gory highly recommend.
Well written good read
What a brilliant book, just when you think the story is ending it takes another twist. The narator was very good with an easy to listen to voice. I would definitely recommend this book.
This book is so badly written and confusing that I kept checking in case I was listening to the second half first by mistake
