Publisher's summary

Welcome to Trenton, New Jersey, where bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's life is about to implode in Janet Evanovich's wildest, hottest novel yet!

FIRST A STRANGER APPEARS
While chasing down the usual cast of miscreants and weirdos Stephanie discovers that a crazed woman is stalking her.

THEN THE STRANGER REVEALS HER SECRETS
The woman dresses in black, carries a 9mm Glock, and has a bad attitude and a mysterious connection to dark and dangerous Carlos Manoso …street name, Ranger.

NEXT, SOMEBODY DIES
The action turns deadly serious, and Stephanie goes from hunting skips to hunting a murderer.

SOON, THE CHASE IS ON
Ranger needs Stephanie for more reasons than he can say. And now, the two are working together to find a killer, rescue a missing child, and stop a lunatic from raising the body count. When Stephanie Plum and Ranger get too close for comfort, vice cop Joe Morelli (her on-again, off-again boyfriend) steps in.

Will the ticking clock stop at the stroke of twelve, or will a stranger in the wind find a way to stop Stephanie Plum…forever? Filled with Janet Evanovich's trademark action, nonstop adventure, and sharp humor, Twelve Sharp shows why her novels have been called "hot stuff" (The New York Times), and Evanovich herself "the master" (San Francisco Examiner).

Best of the series!

This is the first time I have read this author and have fallen in love with the Stephanie Plum series. I downloaded all 13 books and listened to them all within a week. I couldn’t wait to hear what adventures (and mishaps!) that Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula and the rest of the gang would get into. I’ve read some of the previous reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others. I disagree that it gets old and complacent that Stephanie finds herself in the same situations in every book. It appears to me that Stephanie’s character is just one of those people that trouble and mayhem seem to find. I do agree that narrator Lori Petty is the voice of Stephanie. Narrator Debi Mazar’s accent is a bit heavy for audio books and then after all this Lorilei King takes over as narrator for the rest of the series. While Ms. King’s character voices are awesome (she has such a range!) her Stephanie voice has no Jersey accent at all and sound just a little too “blue blood”. Otherwise Ms. King is a joy to listen to. You will fall in love with Ranger and Joe! Both are too hot to handle……no wonder Stephanie can’t choose between the two!

Don’t let the narrator changes deter you from listening to this funny charming, and at times mysterious series. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for something light hearted to listen to.

Evanovich and King - the dynamic duo

Lorelei King IS Stephanie Plum. Her voices run true to each of the characters, which are nicely drawn by Evanovich. I can relate to Plum, her self-doubt, her neuroses - in other words, she's not superwoman, she's just another woman with issues, who happens to have the hots for two very hot men, a grandmother who should have her own TV show, a father who has retreated into his own tiny bubble to protect himself from the strange women in his life, a mother who believes pineapple upside-down cake cures everything. Every character in these stories is memorable, even those with supporting roles. I can hardly wait for the next Plum novel to come out!

Borderline believable and fun

What did you love best about Twelve Sharp?

Fun characters, mundane dialogue making tense situations hilarious and plot twists

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Once the plot was initially developed, there were appalling consequences at any time, both for the romantic and criminal sides.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings a depth to each character that resounds and makes them plausible, even when I have trouble believing that's possible.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I spread it out over a couple of weeks.

This is a great book!

This book was a fast listen. Love the characters. It reminded me a lot of Hard Eight. We see a lot more of Ranger in this book. Need I say more?
