When Kathleen Turner, office runner for the prestigious Indianapolis law firm of Kirk & Trent, started dating the boss she knew the risks. Senior Partner Blane Kirk is known for being a notorious player - the Baskin Robbins of dating with a different flavor every month. Kathleen is the happiest she’s been in a long time, but she’s always known there was a termination date on her relationship with Blane. She just didn’t expect that termination to be her funeral. Blane’s current case is drawing heated debate and stirring the pot of public fury. A former Navy SEAL stands accused of the wrongful death of an American citizen during a military operation overseas. The case has far-reaching political and military implications. Someone with a lot of money, and even more clout, wants Blane to lose. As dead bodies of people connected to the defense start piling up, it becomes painfully obvious that disappearing witnesses and altered testimony are no longer enough for whoever is intent on guaranteeing the SEAL gets convicted. Kathleen and Kade, Blane’s brother and ex-FBI-agent-turned-assassin-for-hire, are on the trail of the killer. Unfortunately for Kathleen, he’s already moved for the end-game - by painting a target on her…and pulling the trigger.

I really wanted to give this a higher rating. I like the story concept. I like the authors writing. The heroine as many great traits. But the author resorts to people just being stupid to increase tension and suspense.
To avoid spoilers, I give the following example:
If you know somebody is trying to kill you, do not walk the dog alone at 5:30 in the morning.
I will buy the next book in the series, but if it is not better, I will stop there.
I don't know what it is with this narrator. She proves with the dialogue that she can act, but the sing-song nature of the cadence got to me and I had to stop reading. I never got to the storyline.
I listened to the first book of the series and the mystery was interesting so I didn't just stop when the cadence got to me. It grated on my nerves, but I listened to the whole book. I started listening to this book, rather hoping the narrator was changed. Sadly, it wasn't, so I returned the book.
Maybe it was the director who caused this, but no matter whose fault it was, the narration let the author down. I suggest the publisher make a change.
Book two was just as entertaining and suspenseful as the first.
As a rule I don't usually continue to read or listen to a series, where I constantly question the characters intelligence but somehow Tiffany Snow has gotten me hooked on
the crazy train - 😀
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
This is a good one in the series. If you love reader Angela Dawe like I do, then this series is great. Book #4, 2, 1, 3 is the order I like them. I saved #5 for the last, as that will finish the series. What a shame. I did listen out of order, which I should not have.
The full series are a romance with mystery, but make no mistake, romance is the core.
The dialogue is great in this one as it is in #4. Our heroine has spunk! When she uses a pistol, well there is your equalizer.
All the scenes in which Kade uses he wonderful wit. Blane is as sexy as all get out so you get a double whammy. Reader has a yummy male voice.
There were a few scenes which were moving. Some were pretty inventive. Our heroine has a moral code which can and does lead her on one adventure to another.
No one story except #5 will tell all. If you need full stand alone stories, these are not it, as each book ends where the next book will begin.
the story is a bit frustrating until the half way mark then it picks up a bit. i'm not sure yet if i like tiffany snow's writing style. i must confess i started to doubt her ability to write a good female heroine storyline with all the absurdity and flaws on this story. although ms snow tries to portrait her as a strong character, there are a lot of deprecating moments and sometimes it feels like the only talent Kathleen has is the fact that she is beautiful, blond and sexy.
I gave the narration 3 stars because it wasn't anything special, but the Kathleen Turner book series has me hooked! It's got action, mystery, suspense, hot romance and great characters.
I am so pleased I found this series - Turn To Me continues on from the first book in the series No Turning Back. This series rates highly amongst the other books in this genre that I have read. It has all the elements that make a book a real page turner - one that keeps you up late and gives you something to look forward to.
I enjoyed the intrigue that was woven throughout the story. But at the same time I also found that I wanted to hit Kathleen over the head as she kept excusing Blane's behaviour but a the same time keeps Kade on the hook but at arms length. This is a love triangle that will only cause heartache.
I didn't have a favourite scene - the whole book was fast moving, full of suspense and with a wholesome dollop of romance.
I did find myself smirking at parts of this book - many due I think to Angela Dawes fabulous narration. Tiffany Snow has written this book with a huge amount of first person dialogue and this has given the narrator a chance to give Kathleen Turner a very unique character.
I guess my only comment is that because this is a series it can become frustrating waiting for the next book - unfortunately we now live in a society that expects instant gratification - so I guess I will just have to learn to be patient.
The book lingers too much describing the affairs between Kathleen and the brothers. I also found the behavior of Kathleen quite unrealistic and unbelievable, which really let me down for the whole story. Generally, it seems like things are happening too fast, without too much reasoning behind it. It felt more like an action book.
It is not a mystery book.
It was OK.
If it was free. I really didn't like the heroine, who epitomized the saying "fools rush in". The narrator was fine.
Maybe a different series.
I knew this was romantic suspense, but I prefer a stronger heroine. Less emphasis on sex and more on investigation, and personal resourcefulness.
