Publisher's summary

Thomas Kilbride is a map-obsessed schizophrenic so affected that he rarely leaves the self-imposed bastion of his bedroom. But with a computer program called Whirl360.com, he travels the world while never so much as stepping out the door. He pores over and memorizes the streets of the world. He examines every address, as well as the people who are frozen in time on his computer screen. Then he sees something that anyone else might have stumbled upon - but has not - in a street view of downtown New York City: an image in a window. An image that looks like a woman being murdered.

Thomas's brother, Ray, takes care of him, cooking for him, dealing with the outside world on his behalf, and listening to his intricate and increasingly paranoid theories. When Thomas tells Ray what he has seen, Ray humors him with a half-hearted investigation. But Ray soon realizes he and his brother have stumbled onto a deadly conspiracy. And now they are in the crosshairs.

Excellent

This story is very much worth a credit. it's long, but kept my interest all the way. The narrator does a lot of different individuals and does a fair job. It's easy to follow even tho they sound pretty much alike. For me it didn't detract because this story of two brothers working together on a really unique murder mystery really pulls you in.

Packed with storylines

A big brother trying to adjust to losing his dad and caring for a special needs brother. While trying to figure out a family secret. I don’t want to give anything away, But it’s a good story that’ll keep you listening instead of making beds. lol
I liked that the story didn’t lag for me. This morning I woke at 4am thinking I’d fall back to sleep listening to a chapter. AI was wide awake waiting to figure out the end. 6 hours later I finished the book. The end is jaw dropping. A total surprise. At least for me. A credit well spent

Totally unique storyline. Very clever.

This is my first book from Linwood Barkley. Good character development, believable but bizarre plot. I enjoyed it start to finish.

Mouth dropping then you'll need to re-listen

What made the experience of listening to Trust Your Eyes the most enjoyable?

A good mystery should be able to shock you and you shouldn't be able to figure out every mystery on your own. This book was a good mystery! However, it was so good that I actually had to go back and re-listen to old chapters because it didn't make sense to me. Sometimes, there is one key phrase that you didn't pick up on and before you know it, you'll be like "huh?" "wait, what?" and you will have to go back and listen to chapters over again. I do like being surprised though so I didn't mind.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how there is not just one mystery to solve, but many mysteries all at once that someone melt together seamlessly in the end. I like the dynamics of the characters, how you can't quite label one character to be any particular way because they end up surprising you.

Have you listened to any of Ken Marks and Rick Holmes ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have never listened to them before and they just received another fan! I am already looking for other books he wrote.

Pleasant Surprise

This book was recommended to me by a friend, and ended up being quite the pleasant surprise.

The book is centered around the "Google Earth" concept, where one of the vans driving around taking pictures of city streets and then projected into Google Earth to show the user the streets online.

The company here is fictitious and the story is a bit implausible, but the author makes it work and weaves a pretty suspenseful story that ends up being a "page turner".

The narrators do a fine job, even though there is no need for two of them.

Highly recommended!! A suspense novel that is a fun and enjoyable listen!

Mediocre Mystery With Little Intrigue

While the premise is interesting enough, the story drags out far longer than necessary. Nearly all of the "big reveal" twists are foreshadowed to the extreme making the reader not only guess them correctly well in advance, but then wait for the characters to catch up on the same.

Many, if not all, of the characters are flat and uninteresting, seeming to fulfill their niche of purpose and nothing more - quite one-dimensional. Their dialogue feels forced and often out of place as if they are reacting by the sheer merit that more conversations need to exist. The story in itself lends intrigue and by its right should be more interesting, but the execution of it falls short.

The performance of the narrators work decently enough, except as things spiral together at the end when characters' parts become exchanged between both narrators who do not recite concurrently, but interchangably compared to the rest.

Overall, mild intrigue of you aren't looking for a real brain teaser of a thriller for some casual down time.

Good book

I really enjoyed listening to this book. This is my first time with this author and throughly enjoyed the characters and the mystery. I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars because of one thing. The ending was great until the last sentences. I am a happy ending kind of person even if that is not realistic. The end throws in a new twist that doesn't ruin the story but made me kinda sad for one of the main characters. wish the author had left it out.

Linwood Barclay is amazing

I have to yet to come across a book by Linwood Barclay where the plot or the characters are not unique. The suspense, the surprises, the twits and turns of the plot keep you gripped. This book in no exception to this. A unique plot with unique characters which kept me gripped from start to the last chapter. I would rather not discuss the plot and characters or try to be a critic, if a book is engages me like this one did, I give it top marks. Go for it, you will not be disappointed if you love mysteries and thrillers!
