Publisher's summary

Something big is brewing in Trenton, NJ, and it could blow at any minute.

Stephanie Plum might not be the world's greatest bounty hunter, but she knows when she's being played. Ken Globovic (aka Gobbles), hailed as the Supreme Exalted Zookeeper of the animal house known as Zeta fraternity, has been arrested for beating up the dean of students at Kiltman College. Gobbles has missed his court date and gone into hiding. People have seen him on campus, but no one will talk. Things just aren't adding up, and Stephanie can't shake the feeling that something funny is going on at the college - and it's not just Zeta fraternity pranks.

As much as people love Gobbles, they hate Doug Linken. When Linken is gunned down in his backyard, it's good riddance, and the list of possible murder suspects is long. The only people who care about finding Linken's killer are Trenton cop Joe Morelli, who has been assigned the case; security expert Ranger, who was hired to protect Linken; and Stephanie, who has her eye on a cash prize and hopefully has some tricks up her sleeve.

Stephanie is back -- A great installment

I started to smile five minutes into this short six hour novel and didn't stop smiling till the end. Lula is especially funny in her conversations with Stephanie. Also, the relationship triangle has a twist and turn that adds a little spice. This story certainly breathes life back into the series. There are times, at the beginning, where Stephanie refers to Moreli as her 'recent boyfriend' and you think, 'Yeah for the last 17 books,' and you roll your eyes. Yet, on the whole, the storyline is an engaging listen. I am actually grateful for it being a shorter listen because the story move faster. Evanovich populates the story with hilarious offshoots of characters as she often does and it it works. The first offshoot is pretty funny.

Lorelei King shows up with the voice we have all grown to associate with Ms. Plum. It is a seamless performance.

This novel gives me hope that the Evanovich has again found a chord to keep us engaged as she winds her way towards something-something 23. I give it a thumbs up.

lost in the story line

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

not if they liked the early books, it seemed like this book was hard to write. or pushed together. if I did not know she could do so much better ok. but she can. so this was a bummer.

What do you think your next listen will be?

somebody else.

Was Tricky Twenty-Two worth the listening time?

after all the others, not really

Any additional comments?

Let Stephanie grow everyone else has.

very disappointing

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

story should have been more substantial.

What could Janet Evanovich have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

it felt like a short story, there was no substance or excitement. I have read every book that Evanovich has written, the last two Stephanie Plum have been disappointing. this last one feels like it was written in a hurry, without much thought put into it. they are not of hte quality of the first 10-15 books

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

I LOVE Lorelei King

What character would you cut from Tricky Twenty-Two?

none

Up to par for Mrs. Evonovich

Good listening. Good writing. Good word pictures. Good characteristics. Thanks for the humor in a constantly changing negative world.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

Formulaic, vulgar, predictable, repetitive, and without any real virtue as a mystery. Too self-consciously cute.

Same...

I have read all the novels in this series and I was hoping for something more in this one. It is another good story where the good guys prevail but the books are starting to blend together.

Closer to the first few books in the series

Any additional comments?

The last three or four books in this series were disappointing, but this book was more like the earlier books in the series and I enjoyed it more. I think the author is finally moving along the love triangle of Stephanie, Joe and Ranger. My favorite characters are in the book. I always love Lulu and Grandma. I must admit, however, that I am about ready for this series to be wrapped up. There is not much left to do with these characters except to resolve the love triangle and have everyone settled down. The rest is getting rather repetitious. I must add that the reader has done a truly great job throughout the series.

I think Ms.Evonovitch has gotten bored, these are fantastic characters. There are so many directions she could go.I look forward to reading more of J.E.'s future novels.
