Publisher's summary

In a New York City fifty years in the future, Detective Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law - including the ones sworn to uphold it.

Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a brutal, senseless crime - an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. And for the first time, Peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. Good thing she learned the ropes from a master like Eve.

But after rounding up the perps, Peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation. Determined to start working out as hard as she grills suspects, she chooses to do it at the old, rarely-used gym at Central. After a grueling workout, she squeezes into one of the narrow shower stalls, happy to have the place to herself. Just after she shuts the water off, the gym door clatters open - and while she cringes inside the stall, trying not to make a sound, Peabody overhears two fellow officers, Garnet and Oberman, arguing. References are made to delivering product, and a house in the islands, and someone named Keener who’s supposed to look like an OD. It doesn’t take long for a naked and vulnerable Peabody to realize that both officers are crooked - guilty not just of corruption but of murder as well. Fortunately, the two clear out of the locker room without realizing there was a witness.

Eve Dallas may have trained Peabody well - but this is too dangerous for one person to take on alone. Now Peabody, Eve, and her husband, Roarke, must try to get the hard evidence they need to bring the dirty cops down - knowing all the while that the two have already killed to keep their secret, and are no doubt willing to do it again.

Amazing

JD Robb is the most amazing writer with the death series. The characters are perfect and voices are incredible. It brings you into the story and takes you away.

One of my favorites in the series

This book is a favorite. I love how Eve commands her squad and empowers Peabody. Roarke's skills come in handy numerous times. Glad he got to have some fun. Summary covers basics, so no point reiterating that part. My only complaint about this book is we didn't get to read about Eve sweating Rene in the box. That would have been fun reading.
Susan as always, did a great job.

Fantastic book

I laughed,.. I cried...I cheered. In fact I listened to the last chapter 3 times before I started the entire book from the beginning for the 2nd time. Only problem I had was with the reference to a "400 pound stallion" Sorry that is not a very big horse at all. Overall I have to say it was one of the best and I have them all and have listened to each one in order.

Sometimes the Enemy is Within

Where does Treachery In Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's hard to compare as this is part of a series and all of the JD Robb books on audio are captivating and well-performed.

What other book might you compare Treachery In Death to and why?

You really can't go wrong with any Eve Dallas/Rourke book.

Which scene was your favorite?

Towards the end of the book, Eve's team really comes together and that sense of "family" was really nice to have.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but it took me a bit as I was listening on a commute.

Treachery in Death

This was a great book and wonderful to finally see Peabody lead an investigation. This was a great storyline to read to see how well Eve's aide has turned into a true Detective even thou she finds herself in a life batlle of the good cop vs bad cop. How things can go from very bad to down right insane.
