Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

Powerful!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Transfer of Power to be better than the print version?

As I can't read print because of blindness, I can't compare the two.

What other book might you compare Transfer of Power to and why?

There is no other book that I have listened to the even comes close to this one, because There has never, in my opinion, been a plot like this.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene that stood out was the final rescue of all the hostages, and the extraction of the president.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was full of many twists and turns. I could not stop listening.

Any additional comments?

If you wanted to cheer out loud for the killing of terrorists given the current problems in the world at present, I would strongly recommend this book.

Not George

I love these books but I need George narrating. Nothing against Nick but he's no George.

Which character – as performed by Nick Sullivan – was your favorite?

MITCH RAPP

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

THE POTENTIAL RAPE SCENE. THIS SETS THE ENTIRE BOOK IN MOTION TOWARD A HAPPY ENDING. WITHOUT THE REPORTER NOW OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN.

Solid read!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes it did. There was lots of action, but it was not overwhelming. While a certain amount of disbelief has to be suspended in action fiction, Flynn provided the appropriate balance between reality and what could happen. There were enough interludes for the reader to learn some about the major characters.

Have you listened to any of Nick Sullivan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time that I have listened to Nick Sullivan. Frankly, I pick books based on the author or others recommendations, not the narrators. I enjoyed the narration and look forward to hearing Mr. Sullivan again. I will be following the Mitch Rapp series in the future.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

White House Down

Flynn understands American politics today

Flynn paints the American landscape today with its screwed up politics and political correctness. Then he shows a few people doing the right thing in spite of political stupidity. Rapp is awesome and I hope the is someone like him doing what needs to be done. I do thank everyone in the military and especially those willing to do the most dangerous jobs like the Seal who took out OBL.

Great fun story of the series, worst narrative

This may be my favorite book of the Mitch Rapp series, but just hate the nasally voice of the reader. I can't picture Rapp as a bad A with a voice like that.
