Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

An even better Mitch Rapp thriller

Another page-turner from Vince Flynn, featuring his CIA hero assassin, Mitch Rapp, responding to a terrorist attack in DC. This 3rd book in the series is reminiscent of Tom Clancy, with a lot of technical detail about weaponry, surveillance equipment, the military, etc. The only downside is the narrator, who has trouble with his character voices. The inestimable George Guidall read the first two books; hope he returns.

Reader

This reader is so much more dull than George quidell, and it shows how much it matters. I almost didn’t listen to the whole thing because of it.

Great action book

The only problem I had was it completely cuts chapter 46 away from the book for some reason and it’s an important part so heads up

I don't get it.

I've read a lot of reviews that cast Nick Sullivan's performance dismal compared to George Guidall in American Assassin and others and I don't get it. Mr. Sullivan does a great job, he varied his inflections for each character and kept my attention with his performance. He doesn't do this exactly like Guidall does, but he does it just as well. I would recommend this book and performance to anyone.

Great Story, Weak Narration

Very captivating story to begin the Mitch Rapp series. Not so keen on the narrator but grew used to him since the story was so good.

Great Story; Terrible Narrator

What made the experience of listening to Transfer of Power the most enjoyable?

Like the preceeding books in the Mitch Rapp series, there is plenty of action. Not too many surprises, but assembled nicely. If you like SpecOps books & you enjoyed Vince Flynn's earlier books, you'll probably still like this one, albeit you need to slog through the performacne.

Would you be willing to try another one of Nick Sullivan’s performances?

Probably NOT. The reading style is stilted - mechanical. It gets better as the book goes on, but the early part of the book nearly ruins it.

voice talent hit and miss

I love the story but the voice talent made some of his characters incredibly nasal sounding and annoying which begin to drive me nuts. I've never known anyone to talk that way in real life and it made the book less enjoyable and harder to take seriously.
