Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

First VF book for me

I'd heard Rush Limbaugh sing Vince Flynn's praise for years and finally checked out his work. I loved it and will be buying the next in the series.

Narrator not the best

I’ll admit I’m late to the Mitch Rapp series, but it is great. He’s up there with Jack Reacher, Courtland Gentry and Evan Smoak. If you like those guys you’ll love Rapp too. However, I didn’t like the narrator on this one. He was different than the guy from the first two books in the series. The narrator there was more familiar, like Scott Brick. But, I can’t swear it was Brick except to say he was much better than Sullivan.

Incredible read!

Incredible read! After listening to the first two books in the series, the new voice actor throws you off a bit but once you get used to him, it's clear he does a wonderful job. I was engaged from start to finish and couldn't put it down after about 2 hours in. Highly recommended for anyone who likes a sort of spy craft/military/political thriller.

Another great Mitch Rapp book, but...

I started listening to this series in chronological order. George Guidall narrates the first and second book and needless to say this was JARRING.

Nothing against Nick Sullivan, he’s great, but his voices are so different to Guidalls that it was as though I was listening to a different series. It’s unfortunate, and I’d honestly say it would be worth any price for them to redo the three books that are read by Sullivan and Kiban, so that they all had Guidalls voices. But it’ll probably never happen. Just going to have to tough it through the next two and get back to Guidall.

It’s sad because by the end I finally got used to Sullivan, but his take on Mitch Rapp is so different.

Anyway, the story was good. A little out there and a bit slow in some parts but worth a listen.
