Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

Can’t stop listening.

Great story, full of twists turns, performance of reader adds to story line. Have no hesitation fully recommending this particular book. Just finished this book and getting reading to listen to the next book in the series. Really enjoyable from the first word to the last word.

One of my favorite in the series, but bad reader

Would you listen to Transfer of Power again? Why?

No, not without another narrator. Story was fantastic, but reader was pathetic.. though not nearly as bad as the reader of book 5 (DO NOT BUY). Book 5 (Separation of Power) literally has the WORST narrator I have ever listened to.. I basically threw away $20 on that book because I was out of credits and couldn't handle listening to that guy past 15 minutes... Cannot understand how they allow someone SO awful and out of character to handle reading such good books...

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, great story

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Nick Sullivan?

Yes... Anyone would have been better except the idiot that reads book 5 in the series... I could at least tolerate Sullivan

Good story, not so great performance

Enjoyed the book overall but the readers constant over annunciation quickly became tiresome. I think if he relaxed a little bit he would do fine.

Difficult to not compare this with Olympus Has Fallen

I sincerely wish I would have read this before I saw Olympus Has Fallen. I highly doubt that movie was in any way related to this book, beyond the premise of taking over the White House, but the relative ease with which these terrorists implement their plan is laughable. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed this story for what it was, I just had a lot of trouble taking anything seriously.

WOW!!! This must be the best Vince Flynn novel.

This is an incredibly well constructed and fast moving story. It has no weak spots or moments. While it is fiction and the unfolding of events is not realistic, it has enough reality that the listener will begin to wonder if it might be real. The main characters are interesting. The interplay among characters and various government agencies creates both an pathos and tension that adds depth to the story. The narration is neutral. The reader is not at all dramatic in the presentation - he does not get in the way of the story. It could be a bit better, but the neutral tone fits the rapid story - and the written words seem to speak well for themselves. I am not a fan of the ending but it is interesting and written at the same level as the rest of the book. The ending does not detract from the book - it fits and flows well with the whole story. Caution: I found myself so engrossed that I kept listening longer than I should at times when I had other things to do.

Best one Yet!!!!

I am listening to these in order and this is hands down the best one. It literally had me looking for places to drive so I could finish each chapter! Excellent suspense! I had a problem with Nick Sullivan(Narrator) at first because it was a change. However, I quickly turned around and loved his performance. He does a great job of suspense building and tone for each situation. You almost felt through his voice the intensity! Great listen and can't wait for the "The Third Option"

Great Story - Hated Dallas Kings Voice.

loved it, but some of the voices the narrator made were annoying. particularly Dallas King.

Good book, good narrator

After reading so many negative reviews about Nick Sullivan's narration I was on the fence regarding whether to buy this book or not, having enjoyed George Guidall's narrated Consent to Kill very much.

But at the end, I decide to buy it and found that the narration isn't as bad as some other reviews made it out to be, I'll admit George Guidall narration of Mitch Rapp is better, but Nick Sullivan's narration wasn't an issue and did not get in the way of me enjoying the book
