Critic reviews

"His description of the White House is impressive; readers will wonder if the secret passageways, hidden rooms, and clever deception devices that help load this story with seemingly endless intrigue really exist." (Publishers Weekly)

Shame this is abridged format only

There's so much going on in Vince Flynn novels that I really would appreciate the unabridged version to fully savor character development and plot lines more fully flushed out. This would have been a 5 star listen in the unabridged version. I won't buy any more Vince Flynn abridged audiobooks. Word.

mediocre at best

The story wasn't very good. The sequence of events weren't believable. This is a very short book. Not worth the time or money.

Weakened due to Abridgment

I have to agree with the majority of the other reviews, this book is severely weakened due to the fact that it is abridged. In my opinion, this book could of been edited better. There was just way too many crucial facts left out. The reader gets the basics of what the book is about but that is all; there are none of the intimate details that normally go into making a book a best seller. In addition, I believe that the story is too choppy. If the hardcopy was written just like this abridged format was, I highly doubt that it would of been a best seller. Overall, the story was good, however based upon the reputation of the author, I know that the book is better. I am unsure as to who decides whether a book should be abridged or unabridged, but I would rather pay the extra cost for the unabridged format. Basically I was left wanting more. I guess the only way to get complete satisfaction out of this story is simply to read the book, and if that is the case what do I need audible for? Simply put, buy this book if you don't care about details and you are trying to keep up with the Mitch Rapp series and don't have time to read the hardcopy.

not the best narrator/great novel

What did you love best about Transfer of Power?

plot, character development

What was one of the most memorable moments of Transfer of Power?

honestly, I am listening to all Flynn's novels, so the plots run together...

What three words best describe Daniel Oreskes’s performance?

mispronounced some words, romance scenes sounded weird

Any additional comments?

I'm not sure if it was the rendition or Flynn's writing, but I didn't think the romance/sex parts were believable or well done...the political intrigue, espionage, and military action is captivating and entertaining.

Great Author / Bad Narration

Vince Flynn and Mitch Rapp are my favorites but the narrator on this one ruined the listen. If you are out there Vince, PLEASE stick to George Guidall.

This is where it all began for Mitch Rapp

With the American Assassin Movie coming out I wanted to re-visit the first installment of this epic series. Although this is an abridged version, it completely captures the story and characters that made all of the Vince Flynn books page turners. Here is Mitch at his best, without the regrets and distrust of authority that haunted him in later stories. Knowing that his legacy will continue after his creator passed, everyone should experience the beginning of an American legend. Long live Mitch Rapp!

Abridged??

I wish Audible had the un-abridged form of the book. The abridged book is a little too choppy and seems to be missing sections of the full size book.
