Publisher's summary

Only six major rail bridges cross the Mississippi River and connect one half of our country to the other. When one of them collapses as a freight train is crossing, the FBI sends agents Hush Hanson and Carolyn Lang to investigate. Hush and Carolyn suspect a bomb, but there are no clues to suggest who planted it.

Meanwhile, at an Alabama army depot, a military train carrying a deadly cargo begins its journey west. This train must cross the Mississippi before its cargo becomes unstable - and then another bridge goes down.

As more bridges go down and the plight of the doomsday train intensifies, it becomes ever more obvious that Hanson is being set up to take a fall as part of some bureaucratic political intrigue within the FBI.

First book of Deutermann that bored me to death

What did you like best about Train Man? What did you like least?

The story line was OK but the details went on and on and on. Lost interest.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Bruce Reizen?

No

Was Train Man worth the listening time?

Not like the others

Tedious storytelling, predictable plot, terrible narration and well, just not up to the standard of the other Deutermann books.

Who knew train bridges were so important?

I'm a massive PT Deutermann fan, and thus, I really enjoyed this book.

There isn't a lot to say about this book; it's not exactly a departure from the regular formula of a thriller novel, but I enjoy Deutermann's turn of phrase, and the level of character development; he shares the important points, but doesn't go into excessive detail.

Yay for trains!

Will be good if you are a train enthusiast

MacGyver's evil twin brother? I liked Zero Option better but the last quarter of the book was good. The author excellently wrapped everything up.

Very Good Story

One of the main characters in this story is the politics inside major agencies in D.C. — the Dark State — and their relationship with State agencies. This is a major theme of this story. The plot involves a man who is disgruntled with railroad companies (with good reason). Train man is destroying the six major railroad bridges across the Mississippi River, which is throwing railroad shipping in the U.S. into chaos. I am a Deutermann fan. I have read most of his books. This is a good one.

Several of Deutermann’s stories involve the machinations of State and federal bureaucracies, so I imagine Deutermann has had a lot of experience with this. It seems to be on his mind when he writes.

Captivating Novel!

Once again PT does a spectacular job of melding heart-stopping action with intrigue, suspense and a touch of romance to produce a story you can't stop listening to.
This novel proves that PT can handle any scenario, from Military through Police and every segment of law enforcement. Just when you think he has used everything, TRAINS! Excellent story line and characters the reader immediately understands and relates to.
I can't wait for the next one.

In my opinion, not the best PT work

I don't know how to explain it but this book did not flow as well as some of his other ones. His WW2 books are great but this just didnt measure up to them.

The train man did not disappoint

The performance & the book content were both excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem with his books are they are very difficult to put down & tend to keep you up way too late. I had not heard of this narrator before but he was very good with this story. I would certainly listen to another book with him again.
