Publisher's summary

This is my family: Vanished without a trace....

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life.

This is what I know: Pain has a flavor....

When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their cell phones and electronic devices remaining. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just a perfect little family, gone.

This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come....

Tessa knows better than anyone that flawless fronts can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth: Love, safety, family . . . it’s all touch and go.

Very rarely does a book stun me!

Would you consider the audio edition of Touch & Go to be better than the print version?

This was an excellent suspense novel and thriller. More than once I literally caught myself with my mouth hanging wide open at the turn the story took. A great read all around!

I won't even comment on the plot - you'll have to listen yourself!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Libby Denbe - I always root for the underdog. She gets control of her life in the end.

What about Elisabeth Rodgers’s performance did you like?

Her Boston accent. Very good!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

Great read! 5-stars all the way!

I didn't want this book to end. I couldn't stop listening. This is a great story and she didn't an amazing job with individualizing each character.

Twists and More Twists

Just when you think you might be figuring out this novel, EVERYTHING changes! First the wife is the "bad guy" and then, it's the husband. It changes every few chapters! Suspense!

Touch & Go!

Perfect title for this book as it was 'touch and go' for me to get into this story, and it seemed like forever, until bamm, I was hooked and on the edge of my seat with both anticipation & apprehension. I am reminded of the old adage, 'Good things come to those who wait'. So glad I hung in there. Good Narration. Good Mystery/Thriller!

Enjoyable

Would you consider the audio edition of Touch & Go to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version of this, but did of the last few Lisa Gardner books- and I definitely enjoyed it as much as the print.

What did you like best about this story?

It's well paced and fast moving. Interesting characters, a lot going on with plot, but still possible to follow. The only thing that got a little old was the POV from the wife. No spoilers, but she seems to spend a lot of time talking about how handsome her husband is, and it’s kind of funny, but gets a bit tired. In every other way though it’s an interesting story.

Have you listened to any of Elisabeth Rodgers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I had not listened to any of her other performances. It was well done overall, but in some cases the Boston/ New England accent was a bit overdone, and there was one characters voice, Nick, that was just awful. Like a screeching witch, it’s like ran out of ways to differentiate the male voices and just went with the most extreme thing she could muster.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Ho-hum another kidnapping

Decent writer and narrator, but after four chapters I skipped to the last one and was satisfied. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of plot. The "smell of fear" was a little weird to me.
