Publisher's summary

This is my family: Vanished without a trace....

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life.

This is what I know: Pain has a flavor....

When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their cell phones and electronic devices remaining. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just a perfect little family, gone.

This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come....

Tessa knows better than anyone that flawless fronts can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth: Love, safety, family . . . it’s all touch and go.

Who Would've Thought?

Excellent mystery/thriller story from Lisa Gardner . . . my second from her . . . and just as good as the first . . . Things are never as they seem, are they? And I didn't figure this one out up until the end . . . I got very attached to Libby and Ashlyn . . . and also like Tessa Leoni, from the first Lisa Gardner book that I listened to (Love You More). Lots of grit, stamina, and relationships that aren't what they seem . . . I finished in two days . . . I HAD to!!!

Enjoyable

The story keeps the listeners attention, has a good twist in the end although somewhat predictable. Still a pretty good story.

A little Slow & Fat

The story was slow and bulky and at times had spurts of energy. Not typical of the authors writings.

SO glad I didn't give up on Lisa Gardner!

The story is very well written as it offers a glimpse into the secrets that are kept within a family and sometimes from ourselves. This is fast-paced thriller with several characters but even with the constantly moving story line it is easy to keep everyone straight (as far as who is who) and leaves you REALLY wanting to know what can happen next!
Sometimes characters from previous novels confuse or even bore a reader/listener but this was so well written that it can be read by someone who has never heard of Lisa Gardner (are there any left out there?) so I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fast and fabulous read!
Also, I must add that this narrator is extremely talented and I hope she is used for further work- previous LG books weren't quite as enjoyable in audio format due to the narration. Elisabeth Rodgers even makes a fine story even better! Enjoy!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

too fluffy for my tastes

Has Touch & Go turned you off from other books in this genre?

no but will stay away from gardner

Did Elisabeth Rodgers do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

yes...................

Was Touch & Go worth the listening time?

not really but did listen to the whole thing but if I missed a few minutes here and there didn't rewind

Any additional comments?

Author cops out in end.

This was a fairly good till end, where the author cops out and goes with a "typical" conclusion where everything has to be wrapped up in a neat package. I guessed how it would end and the major plot line halfway through the book because the author tries so hard to divert the readers attention from the true suspect. Good listen on average but not much suspense. I like to listen to books that keep me guessing outcome. If you like the genre and can't guess outcome early on then you will enjoy it.

Exceptional story, ridiculous Boston accent

If you could sum up Touch & Go in three words, what would they be?

Couldn't stop listening

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I grew up in Boston, and the only people who talk with that exaggerated an accent are Hollywood actors. And you certainly wouldn't hear it on someone from New Hampshire. I'm not denying we have an accent, and can certainly turn it on for the benefit of tourists, but I've never met anyone who attended high school who talked like that. It was comical at times.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, couldn't stop. Stayed up until the wee hours of the morning listening, got all the laundry done, washed the windows and floors, scubbed the bathroom, dusted, restored the top of an old dresser, took the dogs for a walk four times, and finally ran out of things to do, so I just wandered around the house so I could keep listening. Amazing what you can get done in 14 hours.

Any additional comments?

Just in case you were missing hearing anyone say the word "hence", the characters in this book say it an astounding 21 times. Again, not a word normally heard in Boston.

a true gripper!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The story is great...lots of twists, and LOTS of action. The narrator and the story together made me feel as if I was actually part of the story. Emotional swings along the way left me tired and spent at the end. Whew! what a ride!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The mother-daughter relationships...both Tessa and Libby...were really great and well written....lots of emotion
