This is my family: Vanished without a trace....
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life.
This is what I know: Pain has a flavor....
When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their cell phones and electronic devices remaining. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just a perfect little family, gone.
This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come....
Tessa knows better than anyone that flawless fronts can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?
This is the truth: Love, safety, family . . . it’s all touch and go.

A few must reads: Mr. Mercedes, Narrows Gate, Cop Town, Bomb Proof, Wayfaring Stranger, The Son (Nesbo), Dept Q series...
This is a kidnapping story that involves better police work than the mystery requires. First, I liked the two main law enforcement characters a lot and never thought of not finishing the novel. That immediately qualifies it a 3 star novel, though with its drawbacks I'd give it 2.5 if I could.
Close to half the novel is told in the first person of the kidnapped wife whose husband and daughter are also kidnapped with her. I found her extremely unattractive and droll. In fact, I found her husband an daughter's characters extremely under developed, to the point none of their actions made sense to me.
The narration was excellent with exception to two of the kidnappers, Elisabeth Rodgers had trouble with their gruffness.
This was a complicated mystery that I feel called for far more detail and in depth characters than the author was willing to provide. I was certain of the outcome early on, but finished just to be sure.
Love You More by the same author and some of the same characters
Oh what tangled webs we all weave! Wow this was a great thriller that kept you guessing and if you think your family is screwed up just wait until you read about the Denby's. In this book the Denby family, mom, dad and 15 y/o daughter are taken hostage out of their own home. Tessa Leoni, from Love You More (which is a great read too), is hired by Denby Construction to investigate what happened to the family. Tessa works with the FBI and local law enforcement to find this family. What on the surface appears to be a large construction family run by a close knit group, ends up being anything but. About the time you think you have figured out who kidnapped them there is another wrench thrown into the mix to keep you guessing and trying to figure out the who and why. You don't need to read Love You More before this book even though some of the same characters play a role but the storyline is not effected either way.
Speaker, Coach, Author - in Reno, NV (A GREAT place!) I've been an avid Audible fan for several years. Listen on my iPhone many hours each week.
This one was one of those books that made me want to listen instead of doing anything else! I started it just before a 4-day trip and was happy to stand in lines at airports because it gave me time to listen. Very intriguing and cleverly plotted. Original in so many ways. Loved the characters and am looking forward to Lisa Gardner's next book. The narrator was outstanding! SO many different voices and she made the story that much more interesting.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book. I very much enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story and the narration. The first half was a little slow but still interesting. The 2nd half was a page turner. I was able to figure out the 'who done it' 3/4 of the way through, but it was still intriguing to finish the book. I've read other reviews for Lisa Gardner and most seem to really like her books but I saw lots of complaints about the narrators. This narrator was pretty good. I recommend this book!!
I am looking for other Gardner novels....
Totally addicted to Audible.
Without a doubt the best thriller I have ever heard. I will admit I have been slow to love Lisa Gardner's work but this book is so totally admirable both in the story and in the writing I have become a diehard fan. The whodunit portion of the story is tense and will keep you in suspense at least until near the end. But the personalities, strengths and weaknesses of the main characters will keep you totally involved as well. It was not the ending I was hoping for but still a satisfying book. An excellent use of time and credit.
Couldn't stop listing
OMG YES!, All of Lisa Gardner audible keep you on edge it's the way she writes gets you thinking.
She was perfect I know which character was speaking throughout the audible.
No, I just didn't want it to end, I like knowing about Tessa, I hope Lisa Gardner keeps on this story for another book.
I have enjoyed all of Lisa Gardner's audible but this one has to be up on the top. Way to go Lisa Gardner.
Busy mom who loves to read but doesn't always have the time. I enjoy YA, Romance and the occasional Best Seller.
I don't typically read books in the mystery/thriller genre but this one was on sale and recommended by a friend (the same person that convinced me to read Gone Girl). All I can say is WOW! This had me hooked from the very first chapter and I could not put it down! There were so many twists and turns and shocking moments to this story. I loved it. I can usually figure out the "whodunit" in most books but this one had me almost until the very end.
This was my first Lisa Gardner novel but it definitely will not be my last.
I love books!
This is my 7th Lisa Gardner novel and I've enjoyed them all. She writes taut thrillers set mainly in the Boston area. My overriding goal in any book is to be entertained and this was entertaining. It had a kidnapping, murder, fraud, a family falling apart, good police wrok, and at different times in the story 4-5 characters that could' have been the "whodunit".
I was interested in trying out Eva Gardner's books for a while and finally decided to start with Touch & Go. I'm pretty speechless about the quality of its content. The writing quality is clearly above Romance level but the content... - not much! Super humans without much depth. The muscular, toned, sensitive body of perfect (cheating) Justin and the relentless moaning of the lonely housewife finally got to me: after two thirds I couldn't handle it anymore. All I was constantly hoping was that Libby would stop talking and that we could get back to a scene without her.
The other lead characters in the drama have a bit more diverse characters. It's still pretty mindless reading but decent entertainment and not quite as offensively over the top as the main family drama.
This is an absolute must! Every time I thought I knew who was behind the kidnapping there would be a twist and then a turn and then another twist. I was in knots by the end. This was my first Lisa Gardner novel and it won't be my last. I loved it!
