Publisher's Summary

This is my family: Vanished without a trace....

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life.

This is what I know: Pain has a flavor....

When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their cell phones and electronic devices remaining. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just a perfect little family, gone.

This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come....

Tessa knows better than anyone that flawless fronts can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth: Love, safety, family . . . it’s all touch and go.

    "WOW!"
Would you listen to Touch & Go again? Why?

    Yes, absolutely.

What did you like best about this story?

This book has great characterization, a suspenseful storyline and fast pacing. I was riveted and finished the entire book in two days.

    Any additional comments?

I thought the narration was excellent and it added to the story. Definitely worth a credit. Thanks, Lisa Gardner!

    "WOW--What a Story"

I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan but this story was fabulous--IMHO, her best so far. I literally could not stop listening, the twists and turns just kept coming, and the narration was perfect.

    "Predicable, Yet Entertaining...Secrets and Lies!!"

This is a good story even though some of its secrets and lies were easily predicable early on....Betrayal is the overarching theme of this story with fraud, pediophilia, drug abuse, kidnapping, and teen pregnancy in its subplots. There are three threads that the author weaves together in an easy to follow way. It's a mystery within a mystery within a mystery.....

Overall, I enjoyed the story.... It held my attention and I was entertained. However, it is not a page turner or hard to put down listen. As one reviewer noted, it's a story "that's easy to pick up, get lost in but just as easy to put down." Too many of the characters were not developed enough even though they played key roles in the plot.

I did not like parts if the ending because it was too contrived.... and it showed just how underdeveloped the characters were. The contrivance did not suit the story in any way. It made no sense to me that a man would risk getting caught after receiving his cut of ill-gotten dollars... why take the risk? the author did not set-up this "plot twist" well enough so that the man's actions flowed naturally with the storyline.

The narrator, Elizabeth Rodgers was good. Some of her "gruffier" male voices was less than stellar but doable.

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

    "Who Would've Thought?"

Excellent mystery/thriller story from Lisa Gardner . . . my second from her . . . and just as good as the first . . . Things are never as they seem, are they? And I didn't figure this one out up until the end . . . I got very attached to Libby and Ashlyn . . . and also like Tessa Leoni, from the first Lisa Gardner book that I listened to (Love You More). Lots of grit, stamina, and relationships that aren't what they seem . . . I finished in two days . . . I HAD to!!!

"Oh what tangled webs we all weave"
What other book might you compare Touch & Go to and why?

Love You More by the same author and some of the same characters

    Any additional comments?

Oh what tangled webs we all weave! Wow this was a great thriller that kept you guessing and if you think your family is screwed up just wait until you read about the Denby's. In this book the Denby family, mom, dad and 15 y/o daughter are taken hostage out of their own home. Tessa Leoni, from Love You More (which is a great read too), is hired by Denby Construction to investigate what happened to the family. Tessa works with the FBI and local law enforcement to find this family. What on the surface appears to be a large construction family run by a close knit group, ends up being anything but. About the time you think you have figured out who kidnapped them there is another wrench thrown into the mix to keep you guessing and trying to figure out the who and why. You don't need to read Love You More before this book even though some of the same characters play a role but the storyline is not effected either way.

    "FABULOUS! Buy and listen now"

This one was one of those books that made me want to listen instead of doing anything else! I started it just before a 4-day trip and was happy to stand in lines at airports because it gave me time to listen. Very intriguing and cleverly plotted. Original in so many ways. Loved the characters and am looking forward to Lisa Gardner's next book. The narrator was outstanding! SO many different voices and she made the story that much more interesting.

    "Entertaining Book! Page Turner"

This was my first Lisa Gardner book. I very much enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story and the narration. The first half was a little slow but still interesting. The 2nd half was a page turner. I was able to figure out the 'who done it' 3/4 of the way through, but it was still intriguing to finish the book. I've read other reviews for Lisa Gardner and most seem to really like her books but I saw lots of complaints about the narrators. This narrator was pretty good. I recommend this book!!
I am looking for other Gardner novels....

"Could not take the earbuds out. XLNT! Must Buy!!"

This was one of Lisa Gardner's best novels and I like the way she brought back a previous character - gave it a good twist. Love her type of story telling - narration. She always keeps you guessing. Great, great read. Lisa Gardner fans must buy and if you are just starting - this is a good read, but you may want to start a few back so you are more familiar with some of the characters. ALL of Lisa Gardner books are worth a credit. This is another one I could not put down so make sure you have lots of time to read it or can push the pause or stop button. Unfortunately it kept me up till the wee hours of the morning twice! Great performance, story, characters - every detail is fantastic. Highly recommend this book. Glad I pre-ordered it. Spend your credit, you won't be sorry.

    "BRAVO!"

Without a doubt the best thriller I have ever heard. I will admit I have been slow to love Lisa Gardner's work but this book is so totally admirable both in the story and in the writing I have become a diehard fan. The whodunit portion of the story is tense and will keep you in suspense at least until near the end. But the personalities, strengths and weaknesses of the main characters will keep you totally involved as well. It was not the ending I was hoping for but still a satisfying book. An excellent use of time and credit.
