Publisher's summary

This is my family: Vanished without a trace....

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life.

This is what I know: Pain has a flavor....

When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their cell phones and electronic devices remaining. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just a perfect little family, gone.

This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come....

Tessa knows better than anyone that flawless fronts can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth: Love, safety, family . . . it’s all touch and go.

Very entertaining

My first Lisa Gardner novel, i'm impressed. Definitely not see through, meaning -kept me intrigued throughout the entire story even when I figured out the who, but not the why. Elisabeth Rodgers gave great narration, very dynamic. The writing isn't enough to fall in love or hate with any of the characters, but the story has enough depth to make it a good read/listen.

Great story but horribly narrated

I loved the story just as I do with all of Lisa Gardner books that I have read so far. But, the narration of this book was actually horrible. After reading so many D.D. Warren stories it was awful to hear her portrayed with such an awful accent and tone, even if she was the main character. I also found that the tone and accent for Tessa kept flipping back and forward as if the narrator kept getting confused. The tone of the 15 year old daughter was more of 4 year old childs tone who was eventually allowed to be dramatic. Then there was the awful tone of the men. There should have been a male narrator involved because the female could not do the male tone. This book should have totally been narrated by someone like Kirsten Potter.

Although the voices were not captivating, I was able to enjoy the story. I felt engaged.

HOLY $H!T

This book was GOOD! I was completely blindsided! The characters were well developed, I fell in love with a few of them and hated a few others, I became enthralled from the very beginning. It had my crying at my desk and then yelling at bad guys while driving. I absolutely recommend this book.

Printable!

Okay story but I’d figured it out. But it was as good story. Maybe I’ve just heard too many mysteries.

Twisting the Hours Away

Holy cow! Better and better every time I thought I had it figured out it shifted and kept shifting to the very end. Men are stupid, bad guys can have morals, and Tessa has great intuition. Great book😀
