Gripping story, but oh what a time warp
Oof, like stepping backwards in time. The descriptions of technology… 3.5” floppy discs, email, using pay phones… nothing wrong with the story, it’s just dated. Lots of twists and turns, and I definitely didn’t predict the ending.

This is the second audiobook that I have listen to from this author. The first was 620 man. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

mixed bag
(Edited and re-reviewed) The story and characters held my interest through most of the story. The initial presenting problem and plot were unique, not the standard mystery fare, so it promised to be interesting and complex
Much of the plot was propelled by the female protagonist continually saying and doing things that showed poor judgment and worsened her situation. Yet she was repeatedly described as a really smart lawyer. So I reacted negatively. I had trouble liking her. But after thinking about the book a while, I realized that the main character was triggering me from my life experiences with certain people, so I'm going to think on it some more and sample more of David Baldacci's writing, because he is very skilled. The ending really did throw in everything plus the kitchen sink though.

fantasy island!
the story starts off great and degenerates into nonsensical scenes displaying a laughable FBI and a female lawyer who outduels the FBI and syndicate that are searching for her. very mediocre end to a promising start.

Sophisticated and interesting plot
Couldn’t figure out where this one was going which is a credit to the author’s intricate and detailed plot. Narrated extremely well and engaging throughout. Highly recommend!
