Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best seller

Catch a professional assassin: top priority. Find a failure-to-appear and collect big bucks: top score. How she’ll pull it all off: top secret.

Trenton, New Jersey’s favorite used-car dealer, Jimmy Poletti, was caught selling a lot more than used cars out of his dealerships. Now he’s out on bail and has missed his date in court, and bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is looking to bring him in. Leads are quickly turning into dead ends, and all too frequently into dead bodies. Even Joe Morelli, the city’s hottest cop, is struggling to find a clue to the suspected killer’s whereabouts. These are desperate times, and they call for desperate measures. So Stephanie is going to have to do something she really doesn’t want to do: protect former hospital security guard and general pain in her behind Randy Briggs. Briggs was picking up quick cash as Poletti’s bookkeeper and knows all his boss’ dirty secrets. Now Briggs is next on Poletti’s list of people to put six feet under.

To top things off, Ranger - resident security expert and Stephanie’s greatest temptation - has been the target of an assassination plot. He’s dodged the bullet this time, but if Ranger wants to survive the next attempt on his life, he’ll have to enlist Stephanie’s help and reveal a bit more of his mysterious past.

Death threats, highly trained assassins, highly untrained assassins, and Stark Street being overrun by a pack of feral Chihuahuas are all in a day’s work for Stephanie Plum. The real challenge is dealing with her Grandma Mazur’s wild bucket list. A boob job and getting revenge on Joe Morelli’s Grandma Bella can barely hold a candle to what’s number one on the list - but that’s top secret.

Praise for Top Secret Twenty-One

“The combination of biting dialogue, outrageous characters and intense story lines are consistent throughout. And [Janet Evanovich] novels are the true definition of a guilty pleasure.” (Associated Press)

“Evanovich doesn’t disappoint.... [She] weaves setting, family, romance and crime to pull the plot of Top Secret Twenty-One forward.” (Bookreporter)

at last!! i love this series!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend the Stephanie plum books. they are fun, sexy, and have great characters and action.

What did you like best about this story?

this particular book has a great deal of action, a faster paced plot than many of these books.

Any additional comments?

I live in the Trenton area and these books ring true for the area and the culture, with some literary license and exaggeration. allow yourself some fun and read Top Secret 21!

You have to love the series to tick with 21

Any additional comments?

I happen to enjoy this series...it is not going to expand your mind but somehow the story and characters soothe me like a comfortable pair of shoes. Nothing new here from the previous 20 but if you enjoy the series, you will enjoy 21. Same book different number.

Like I said, I happen to enjoy the series and will continue to look forward to 22.

Entertaining Read

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I need to start by saying I am a fan of this series. It's a humorous look at a female bounty hunter who, despite herself, manages to always get her man. I enjoy the characters and the location that I feel I could encounter in my own city and would love to hang out with. You won't gain a new meaning of life, however, I find it a fun escape from life.

Would you recommend Top Secret Twenty-One to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, it's a light easy read that allows you to escape for awhile.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, I would love if they would continue making this series into film.

Another Crazy Plumb Catch

Bedrooms, criminals, guns, midgets, rocket launchers, & attack minions... and that’s just the start. If you are familiar with the Plumb series you know it’s a ruckus you don’t want to miss. If you are not familiar with Evanovich’s chaotic series about Stephanie Plumb and her attempts to retrieve those who jump bail, I highly recommend it. You will be hooked faster than a car can blow up. It will keep you happy and laughing.

Entertaining

I have read all the books in this series up to 19. Due to a head injury I can't read books right now so I tried Audible. At first I wasn't sure about it because I already had images and voices of the characters in my head. I have to say the narrator was awesome and actually made the characters come to life. I enjoyed the book too. It made me chuckle quite a bit and had some new stuff that's not been used before. Briggs was back and I think Grandma Mazers bucket list with Ranger was my favorite part, along with Lula and the pizza and the 10 dogs.

2 stars is for short story but full book price

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. King brings the characters to life. I don't know if I would have continued reading if I hadn't switched to these audiobooks. Lula isn't nearly as much fun when I read the books.

Any additional comments?

Fun story and Lorelei King did a great job as usual.

Not bad. Not great.

This is the first Plum book in a while that wasn't better than the one before it. That's not to say that this one was bad, because it wasn't. There weren't as many quirky FTA's as there normally are. Grandma didn't play a big part in this one, the bit with Joe's grandma is awesome but too short. Randy Briggs is pretty awesome, and the chihuahua's (ahem, minions) are great as well. It's a solid addition to the series but not as fun as the last few have been. Lorelei King is her normal, amazing self.
