A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president.
Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility.
The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.
Hood's team, which includes a general, a former ambassador, a psychologist, and a computer specialist, tries to find the solution, only to discover a factor that could change the new world order.

This was my first Tom Clancy book I've listened to, and loved it. It was difficult at times to try and remember the pile of cast members, and the jumping around style took me a while to get used to, but after a while, the style seemed tight and clear. The reader, Michael Kramer is incredible . .either he's incredible, or they actually used 5 or so different people doing the voices.
The story was full of the action I heard Tom Clancy was so well known for, and I felt like the story balanced and pulled together each of the story lines together nicely.
It's 4 stars only because I had to concentrate while listening, and had to backup all the time and re-listen to sections :-)
Yes, I am a fan of the all thrillers.
Donald's heroic actions to prevent the outbreak of a new Korean war.
Tom Cruise maybe, H Ford as Donald.
I enjoy spy, military, psychological, technical and fiction based in reality and science. I really value intimate, thorough writing.
Near the middle so far.
It is a different author than Rainbow Six but they come from the same house. If Rainbow Six was The Illiad this was The Cat in the Hat. The Cat in the Hat is not a bad book. It just isnt as deep and well done as The Illiad
No one really stuck out. Ms. Chong, whom we meet playing piano, was probably the most interesting via Kim's opinions that he expresses about her.
The knight hawk scene. Written really well. I am a very technical person the clean violent act mixed perfectly with the information given about the aircraft made a very short sweet read. mind blowing really.
It was a good book but most of the characters felt very plain/not fleshed/ Typical. I never found myself wondering what anyone was up to because i didnt care about them.
I enjoy reading fantasy, crime and mystery thrillers, as well as historical novels.
Murder, Sabotage, Korea
The North Korean Spy who was forced to spy for her country, then ended up preventing a war.
Michael Kramer did a great job with the characters in this book.
Thrilling military (special forces) story.
Back in the day, I actually read a few of these books--holding the printed page. I found them enjoyable so I thought I would give it a try again. If you like Tom Clancy's work, you will likely enjoy this book. It is important to note that Op Center books are not as detailed (complex story lines) as Tom's full novels. That said, the more complex story lines can be a bit to keep track of unless you are staying steadily with the book.
I would recommend this book and will buy others.
I liked the book, but I don't like the way Kramer reads. Shame.... I'd like to listen to the rest of the series.
The story was constructed well, and handles a number of converging threads well.
His phrasing make the book sound like a cheap 1930's detective radio show vs a Tom Clancy novel.
No. but I'm continuing with the next book.
Yes. I was surprised more than once.
Yes. Already did.
Yes I would. Why not.
I was not at all hooked. Expected not to be able to put it down and it put me down.
I don't even remember the narrator, the story made me forget.
A different narrator.
The narrators voice.
Anyone who doesn't 'ask a question' in the middle of and at the end of most sentences. Infuriating vocal habit.
Can't say, couldn't bear to listen to more than 45 minutes.
Only stuck it out for the first 45 minutes, before the narrators irritating voice sent me screaming for the off switch!
A great book well read and a great start to the series great job already to read the next one
"Huge fan of the books, now a fan of Michael Kramer"
I have read all of Tom Clancy's book and I have to say I really like the style of Michael Kramer. Good tone of voice, easy to listen to but knows how to to drama when the moment needs it.
As for thebook, not Clancy's best but Op Center does become a very good series if you like style and are taking a break from all things Jack Ryan. This book sets up characters that you will like, loath and follow over the next few books.
