Publisher's summary

A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president.

Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility.

The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.

Hood's team, which includes a general, a former ambassador, a psychologist, and a computer specialist, tries to find the solution, only to discover a factor that could change the new world order.

From the Compact Disc edition.

Slower start but great ending

Loved reading this book. I like how the plot twisted at the end. Great quick read

lifts the bordom for a while.

it's a decent enough story, however I feel that the author is far, far too sympathetic to the North Koreans for my liking especially the way he tries to portray them as some sort of misunderstood victims towards the end. I also don't particularly care for the implied adultery on the part of one of the main characters nor do I particularly like the way he tries to portray the North Koreans and a positive light

Narrator from hell

I love Clancy's books but I had to delete this one after 10 minutes as I could not listen to this guy.

Excellent book, but not Clancy's best

I only give it 4 stars because Tom Clancy sets the bar so high with some of his other work. Still an excellent book.

Remarkable read, and great storyline

Once again Tom Clancy shows why he is the king of black ops. I for one wish the United States actually had a operations center like this. Michael Kramer did an excellent job bringing me into the story and painting a picture of the surroundings. Highly recommend reading this series of books.

Just like it was current events

Storyline reads as if it was yanked from the headlines of current events. Gripping adventure. Hard to stop once started

Excellent listen

This was my first Tom Clancy book I've listened to, and loved it. It was difficult at times to try and remember the pile of cast members, and the jumping around style took me a while to get used to, but after a while, the style seemed tight and clear. The reader, Michael Kramer is incredible . .either he's incredible, or they actually used 5 or so different people doing the voices.

The story was full of the action I heard Tom Clancy was so well known for, and I felt like the story balanced and pulled together each of the story lines together nicely.

It's 4 stars only because I had to concentrate while listening, and had to backup all the time and re-listen to sections :-)

A good start and intro to character's

all in all I enjoyed the book. It seemed as though the recording was a little off on its speed but nothing that couldn't be adjusted. The introduction to new characters was nice, I finished all of the Jack Ryan stories and this is a nice addition. You still get the world around government operations but also a good glimpse into a larger cast.

very disappointed

I was disappointed in this book. after reading all of the Jack Ryan and Jack Ryan Jr. books, I had high hopes for this series. The narrator did an excellent job. the story was rushed, no character development, and half of the time I didn't know what was going on. I would not recommend this book at all.

What did you love best about Tom Clancy's Op-Center?

The story lines are always marvelous in a Clancy story and this one is no exception.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tom Clancy's Op-Center?

Mr. Hood talking with his about a video game & comic books.

What didn’t you like about Michael Kramer’s performance?

NOT ONE THING ! I turned it off several times, his reading is enough to make me look 3 times before I get another book with his lack of everything. Rather like nails on a chalkboard and detrimental to the story.
