A moving performance and great account of American heroes.

This book and reading brought detail, clarity and depth of feeling that the movie could not convey . Dick Couch is a master military writer and Steven Weber more than did justice to his fine writing.

Great bonus read

I had just finished reading the very powerful _Executive Orders_ by Tom Clancy. I wanted another story, and found this one available as part of my Audible contract. I found it a very engrossing story and deeply moving. The reader gave the story an excellent performance.

Right at the top. My first book that is a novelization and my expectations were pretty low. This was awesome!

Because of my profession, I truly enjoyed being able to identify with the way of life depicted in the story.

The sacrifice made by one to save many.

Which scene was your favorite?

Gunboat reception from the river of the cartel pursuers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The wife's point of view during the funeral.

I wish the movie incorporated all the intricacies of the book - the public doesn't understand what it is that these heroes do and the price paid.

Intricately connected, global reaching inside look

The quick moving book was well written, performed, and built connections between all of the points on the globe in a smooth and interesting way. The imagery was vivid and clear, opening up possible situations that made sense and colored the way I know look at reports on activities involving SEAL teams.

Enough, but not too much, of the political overhead that shaped and continues to shape Special Operations was given to flavor the reasoning for decisions that were rolled downhill.

Brotherly comradery was clearly evident and the feelings they had for each other drew you into their inner circle, making you feel like you were sitting around the campfire with them.

I look forward to seeing the movie after listening to the book.

Inspiring story restores faith in American values

The characters depicted in this tale were realistic, down to earth people. Solid family men who are extraordinary in skill and brave to the extreme. Men who are willing to give their lives for the sake of their nation. The pace of their exploits continued to increase to a crescendo in the final chapters. Clancy, true to form, presents facts and extrapolates into fiction providing intrigue and believable scenarios. Intelligence gathered during Covert Operations leads the seal team across the globe to prevent a terrorist attack which will dwarf 911. Success mixed with tragedy touches the emotions as the story winds down. I highly recommend this audio book.
