    "Poor"

I read the reviews for this book and was expecting a lot. I found the plot mildly interesting (hence one star), but the character development was dire. If you can't 'connect' with any of characters then the book is in real trouble! It was a struggle to get to the end of the this book, and I was genuinely relieved to get to the end.

    "Enjoyable"

A straight-forward spy novel that predictably leads the listener through a Cold War labyrinth of duplicity and treachery. The writing syle, like the world in which the characters move, very much reflects the period when the novel was written. A little dated but very quaint. Great fun to follow from beginning to end. The excellent narrator really does bring the story to life and undoubtedly adds a lot to the overall experience.

    "May cost you extra fuel!"

A classic tale very well read the narrator's voice is engaging and the pace at which it is read just right. I found myself wanting my drive to be longer, a very rare thing, as I was drawn in to the world and the web of the story. Obviously you have to like the theme but if you do this is first class.

    "A brilliant sleeping pill"

There are so many interwoven stories that i have forgotten what the book was about. I'm afraid I've abandoned it, it's just too dull to be bothered with.

    "Very disappointing...."

Really looked forward to listening to this book.
I eagerly started the book and waited for it to get going.... and waited....and waited.
To say I was disappointed was something of an understatement.
It never really went anywhere, and I actually found it quite difficult to follow the plot (what there was of one).
You know there's something wrong when you're looking forward to the book ending, but keep listening 'just in case' it gets better or 'everything comes together in the end'.
I realize this is somewhat of a classic and I really, really, WANTED to like it.
It just didn't float my boat.....
PS I recently watched the film - that was dross too!

I just do not know what to say, The worst book I ever bought, what a waste of a credit.... deleted it do not want it in my library its a dreary book, slow uneventful as it is all very predictable, but a lot of people seem to love and like it, a real mystery to me.................
