Publisher's summary

For President Jack Ryan, his son Jack Ryan, Jr., and the covert organization known as The Campus, the fight against America’s enemies is never over. But the danger has just hit home in a way they never expected in this #1 New York Times bestselling Tom Clancy thriller....

The Campus has been discovered. And whoever knows they exist knows they can be destroyed. Meanwhile, President Jack Ryan has been swept back into the Oval Office - and his wisdom and courage are needed more desperately than ever.

Internal political and economic strife has pushed the leadership of China to the edge of disaster. And those who wish to consolidate their power are using the opportunity to strike at long-desired Taiwan, as well as the Americans who have protected the tiny nation.

Now, as two of the world’s superpowers move ever closer to a final confrontation, President Ryan must use the only wild card he has left - The Campus. But with their existence about to be revealed, they might not even have a chance to enter the battle before the world is consumed by war.

You need the f bomb through out the book

What made the experience of listening to Threat Vector the most enjoyable?

The performance was pretty good.

Has Threat Vector turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes - I won't read or listen to any more by this author. I am a government worker and everyone doesn't run around dropping the f bomb. Take that word completely out of the book and I will recommend it. Can't even listen to the book with my family!!!!

Which character – as performed by Lou Diamond Phillips – was your favorite?

Ryan Jr

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no

Any additional comments?

Take the explicit sex junk out also. It doesn't lend anything to the story line. I can visualize what happened with out you telling me explicitly.

Loooouuuu

Would you consider the audio edition of Threat Vector to be better than the print version?

didn't read the print edition

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes, I kept waiting for the Americans to see their way trough to success path. In the end it depended on a few of the individual people involved and what they had learned.

Which character – as performed by Lou Diamond Phillips – was your favorite?

None specifically.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes. It is fast moving and occurring over a short time frame. Stopping and starting as my own life happened caused me to go back several chapters at each start to make sure I knew where I was at. I didn't mind having to do that, but I think it would have been fun to charge right throug beginning to end.

Any additional comments?

Lou Diamond Phillips is great narrator. He doesn't overwhelm the story with theatrics, but he does get it done.

Exciting ride into China/American/Global affairs

I am a total Clancy fan. When I first began reading Clancy I found that his plots required more intellectual effort than most counter-terrorism novels. But my brain has adapted to his complex yet thoroughly entertaining plots and countless characters. This is the greatest fun for me. Clancy offers insights into political science, global history, military science and counter espionage in a thrilling action packed story format. I'm slowly going back to previous Clancy novels in this series for the first time as well as re-listening to those I've only heard once. Like many things in life, experiencing his books the second time around offers increased enjoyment in that I understand details that I missed the first time around. Enjoy.

Better than a marathon of 24

Where does Threat Vector rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's my latest, and meets demand in all cat's.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I gotta root for Ding. I think he come's most natural to L.D.P. even though he's a 'B' list role. He cracks me up with his classic mean-mug. Warms the heart in his moments as well.

What about Lou Diamond Phillips’s performance did you like?

YES. Clancy and Greaney never leave me thinking, "HUH?" They spell out the details that matter.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The foreign words, which would hinder anyone, got edited. No surprise, I couldn't possibly do better as a multi-lingual.

Any additional comments?

If you like the series thus far, this won't disappoint.

Excellence once again

Clancy has continued to improve with age and this is another example. Whereas many of his earlier books set the stage and background in exhausting detail for 150-200 pages before any action started, this book is an example of the change made beginning with Rainbow Six where some of the action starts right up front. Great book and gets harder and harder to put down as the story progresses. This is continuing along those lines with our familiar story and I am eagerly looking forward to the next addition.

Watch your vector victor!

Excellent! Clancy has done it again. This tale of high tech cyber-warfare should make everyone take notice. I've already put a post-it note on my laptop camera lens. LD Phillips is superb; his character accents are perfect. Makes the hour-long commute to work enjoyable.

Suprising, and well written.

Where does Threat Vector rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I thought that this is the first book in a while from Clancy that I couldnt put down. "Locked On" the book just prior to this was good as well and gave a great background to this story.
