Publisher's summary

For President Jack Ryan, his son Jack Ryan, Jr., and the covert organization known as The Campus, the fight against America’s enemies is never over. But the danger has just hit home in a way they never expected in this #1 New York Times bestselling Tom Clancy thriller....

The Campus has been discovered. And whoever knows they exist knows they can be destroyed. Meanwhile, President Jack Ryan has been swept back into the Oval Office - and his wisdom and courage are needed more desperately than ever.

Internal political and economic strife has pushed the leadership of China to the edge of disaster. And those who wish to consolidate their power are using the opportunity to strike at long-desired Taiwan, as well as the Americans who have protected the tiny nation.

Now, as two of the world’s superpowers move ever closer to a final confrontation, President Ryan must use the only wild card he has left - The Campus. But with their existence about to be revealed, they might not even have a chance to enter the battle before the world is consumed by war.

Now we're cookin'! This is the perfect guy book!

So, when you think of plugging in and tuning out, this IS the audio book you are looking for. The narration is excellent, the story is fast-paced and make the miles slide by in the car- and it's long enough that it isn't light fluff that's over in no time...

It ranks as the quintessential audio book- spies, jet fighters, intrigue-- it's all there. You will not be disappointed- unless you're looking for love, romance and that other stuff. Enjoy!

Great read, put you right in the action.

Lou Diamond Phillips reading this book is perfect. We felt we were part of the action. We love these books and I sew, knit and clean, and walk a lot faster just listening to them. as I am dyslexic absolutely love being read to. I used to read the same pages many as my times to finally get it right. Thank you Audible!

Classic Clancy- questionable narrator

What made the experience of listening to Threat Vector the most enjoyable?

The story line is suspenseful and relevant.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator swings back and forth from giving characters accents- sometimes they have them, sometime they don't. And his accents are horrible. His breathy "female" voices all sound the same.

This is happening now!

Couldn’t stop listening to this current threat of cyberattack turned real from China and how it progressed quickly to danger of modern war. Fascinating and frightening. Informative.

Another Clancy Success!

One of my favorite things about a Clancy novel is the attention to detail. It sharpens the imagination and transports you right in the middle of the action...it also makes you wonder just how close to the mark he might be!

And LDP as narrator is the icing on the cake. There are narrators who speak differently for each character - only with the best is that a good thing - most just end up missing the mark. LDP gives each personality their own voice without overtly changing the sound. His accents from different regions are believable and he maintains them well.

Two of the best! Clancy and Phillips. I don't know how authors collaborate, but kudos to Mark Greaney for maintaining the Clancy experience!

Best JR Junior novel so far!

This was by far my favorite Jack Ryan, Junior novel. Tom Clancy and Mark Greaney do a fantastic job, and this one of drawing you in and keeping you focused on a really tense situation. I’m only hopeful that the folks in our nations military are reading the same novels, and making much-needed adjustments to secure the things that need securing in our nations, military and cyber infrastructure.!!

Good suspense

It was hard to put down. Great narration. I enjoyed it, but you should be ready for a little violence with this series.

Lou Diamond Phillips

I liked that I never really knew the direction it was going to go. I disliked that I thought when it was recommended it was a current book, but it’s actually 12 years old.

Clancy does it again....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book is easily recommended for any of Clancy's fans. I have enjoyed the next chapter in the Jack Ryan and Jack Ryan Jr. books. I wouldn't recommend this book for anyone who doesn't know any of Clancy's previous book, but instead would recommend they start with either the book just before this or at least with "No Remorse" or "Rainbow Six" in order to know some of the back story.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way Clancy has taken some of the recent history of our nation and still been able to create a other universe in which his characters can blossom without running into issue of political or historical events. By creating a slightly altered universe allows Clancy to bring important events into the story without the story following along with history, ie readers already knowing the outcome of what has or will happen in the story because they know what has happened alreay in real life.

Have you listened to any of Lou Diamond Phillips’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love Lou Diamond Phillips narratoring books. I have listened to several and I think he rocks as a narrator. I will pick up and listen to any book in a normally read genre of mine that he narrators because he brings so much to the story beyond the words being spoken.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Too many areas to remember - Clancy does a great job of putting in laughter in the middle of his suspense related story.
