Publisher's summary

For President Jack Ryan, his son Jack Ryan, Jr., and the covert organization known as The Campus, the fight against America’s enemies is never over. But the danger has just hit home in a way they never expected in this #1 New York Times bestselling Tom Clancy thriller....

The Campus has been discovered. And whoever knows they exist knows they can be destroyed. Meanwhile, President Jack Ryan has been swept back into the Oval Office - and his wisdom and courage are needed more desperately than ever.

Internal political and economic strife has pushed the leadership of China to the edge of disaster. And those who wish to consolidate their power are using the opportunity to strike at long-desired Taiwan, as well as the Americans who have protected the tiny nation.

Now, as two of the world’s superpowers move ever closer to a final confrontation, President Ryan must use the only wild card he has left - The Campus. But with their existence about to be revealed, they might not even have a chance to enter the battle before the world is consumed by war.

Classic Clancy

What did you love best about Threat Vector?

A good foundation was built for the story to unfold on. This was classic Clancy and reminded me of Debt of Honor and Bear and the Dragon. Decently fast-paced and you didn't get the feel that parts were drawn out.

What about Lou Diamond Phillips’s performance did you like?

I thought it was good but I wish I hadn't read the reviews which complained about his sharp breath intakes because there were times that I tended to fixate on it and I honestly don't know if I would have even noticed if I hadn't been "forewarned". It was worse at times than others. Only time I got annoyed was when he kept saying H-U-D rather than just saying hud.

Any additional comments?

Worth the time and credit.

Clancy still Good but not Great as earlier books.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are a Clancy fan then you would enjoy this book. In my reading, the use of the son as the main character, just doesn't come up to the thriller level that Clancy had under the Father. There is, however, enough of the old Clancy in the writing to make it a good way to spend some time.

Any additional comments?

The narration by Lou Diamond Phillips was excellent. A wee bit hokey on the accents at times but performance wise I do give it a 5 star rating.

Entertaining and fast paced

Would you listen to Threat Vector again? Why?

Probably wouldn't listen to it again since I know the story.

Would you recommend Threat Vector to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes I would recommend Threat Vector to anyone who wants a fast paced escape from the real world into a modern, well researched, fiction.

What does Lou Diamond Phillips bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice inflections and dramatic influence help the flow of the story. This is the first performance I've heard from Lou, but I will be looking for him again in the future.

Best Story So Far...

I used to think Teeth of the Tiger was the best Jack Ryan Jr. novel but Threat Vector is even better! The story is engaging from start to finish; the villains and conflict are very interesting and relevant to today’s cyber-dependent culture; and Lou Diamond Phillips made me forget that I was listening to narration of a single person. His accents are seamless.
