Publisher's summary

For President Jack Ryan, his son Jack Ryan, Jr., and the covert organization known as The Campus, the fight against America’s enemies is never over. But the danger has just hit home in a way they never expected in this #1 New York Times bestselling Tom Clancy thriller....

The Campus has been discovered. And whoever knows they exist knows they can be destroyed. Meanwhile, President Jack Ryan has been swept back into the Oval Office - and his wisdom and courage are needed more desperately than ever.

Internal political and economic strife has pushed the leadership of China to the edge of disaster. And those who wish to consolidate their power are using the opportunity to strike at long-desired Taiwan, as well as the Americans who have protected the tiny nation.

Now, as two of the world’s superpowers move ever closer to a final confrontation, President Ryan must use the only wild card he has left - The Campus. But with their existence about to be revealed, they might not even have a chance to enter the battle before the world is consumed by war.

Clancy at his best Phillips at his better than

Packing details into a story he just sucks you in and you don't want it to stop. Everyone knows how great of an author Tom Clancy is but the performance of Lou Diamond Phillips is impeccable. There can be 5 Chinese guys all with a different dialect in the same conversation and each and every character is distinguishable and recognizable. Mr. Phillips just does an amazing job of bringing the players that Tom Clancy has developed to life.

A LESSON IN COURAGE AND ETHICS

Although highly improbable with a weak administration but an example of what our current administration should be considering.
We cannot continue allowing control of our industrial complex to be controlled by outside institutions.
God bless you and your cool authors for having the courage to address the misdirection out country is heading.
We all need to take courage and do the “Right Thing!”.

Lou Diamond Phillips!!!

I am absolutely in awe of the skill and professionalism of Lou Diamond Phillips. As an actor he is special, but his narrative of the stories is simply perfect. I am not a big review writer and doubt he will see these words, but he makes me feel part of the story and I have a hard time turning it off. His talents are greatly appreciated by a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer!

Not bad

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This book is a considerable improvement over the previous two installments in the series. Most of the inane political carping is gone, and the story is actually somewhat feasible; the vulnerability of government agencies and their contractors with regards to cyberattacks is a real threat, and Clancy does a very good job at explaining the technology. True, some key plot elements are quite far-fetched (such as bad guys being able to follow a person throughout the city of Washington, by hacking in to any security camera at will), but it's a work of fiction, and in all fairness the technologies described are worlds more realistic than most of the scenarios we see in film and TV.

Have you listened to any of Lou Diamond Phillips’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

LDP continues the great work he did in the previous two installments of this series.

good addition

some of the subplots drag a little and the deep explanations that Clancy is famous for are missing. The conclusion is more substantial than some Clancy Ryan stories, which is nice because you get a little more sense of finality.

Starts slow, builds the characters-then: HOLD ON !

Typical Clancy-esque, character building takes time. When the story gets going, you can't stop. Junior keeps showing he is a Ryan. Cool, calm and deadly when needed.
