Publisher's summary

For President Jack Ryan, his son Jack Ryan, Jr., and the covert organization known as The Campus, the fight against America’s enemies is never over. But the danger has just hit home in a way they never expected in this #1 New York Times bestselling Tom Clancy thriller....

The Campus has been discovered. And whoever knows they exist knows they can be destroyed. Meanwhile, President Jack Ryan has been swept back into the Oval Office - and his wisdom and courage are needed more desperately than ever.

Internal political and economic strife has pushed the leadership of China to the edge of disaster. And those who wish to consolidate their power are using the opportunity to strike at long-desired Taiwan, as well as the Americans who have protected the tiny nation.

Now, as two of the world’s superpowers move ever closer to a final confrontation, President Ryan must use the only wild card he has left - The Campus. But with their existence about to be revealed, they might not even have a chance to enter the battle before the world is consumed by war.

Retired USAF Officer Loved It

If you could sum up Threat Vector in three words, what would they be?

Nicely accurate; scarily possible

Which scene was your favorite?

As a Desert Storm fighter vet, my favorite scene was the large force attack package and engagements during the attack on China.

Fast-paced and great narration

I enjoyed this title - as I always enjoy the campus series from Tom Clancy. The change of location and characters keeps the book interesting. Also, I really enjoy the narration by Lou Diamond Phillips. He manages to catch the tone of each character to the point that you know who is speaking while he is reading the book. Would recommend as a great listen on a road trip, as we did!

easy and entertaining, although it is missing

If you could sum up Threat Vector in three words, what would they be?

easy and entertaining

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It's interaction with the real world from a political standpoint
The least interesting is the lack of details and shortness of this unabridged novel

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

This book is missing a lot of Mr Clancy's usual details

Decent

If you like TC, then you'll like this one for sure, lots of misdirection, but you sort pick up on what's going on earlier than I prefer but it kept me interested nonetheless. if you didn't start at beginning of campus series, then at least read the one before this one, Locked On, you'll be glad you did. Enjoy!

The Campus Under Seige

Kind of scary. The whole Jack Ryan series (and now Jack Jr) keeps the alternative history of the world with it to make things flow seamlessly. Technology keeps advancing but the story line keeps going. Some of the detail (and in some cases hopefully supposition) is disturbing (assuming it's accurate) - especially for those who sometimes travel to the Middle Kingdom. The bad guys are bad, the good guys are good and you feel for some of the characters even though you know exactly what is going on.

More than some of Clancy's other recent novels I found myself asking "what would I do it if was in that situation?" Brings up some interesting moral questions, and also highlights some of the potential fear some of us might have in the cyber age.
