Deep in the steaming jungles of Paraguay, Aimee Weir is in trouble. The petrobiologist has found what she was looking for - a unique microorganism in a natural gas deposit - but it proves to be more destructive than anyone could have imagined. A contagion is striking down all in its wake. The camp is quarantined, but workers start to vanish in the night.
Is it fear of contamination - or has something far more lethal come to the surface? Something that has been trapped beneath the miles of stone, waiting... for us.
Alex Hunter - code name Arcadian - and his Hotzone All-Forces Warfare Commandos must be dropped in to the disaster area to do whatever it takes to stem the outbreak. It has been a year since Aimee has seen Alex; she thought she had left him for good. Now she needs him more than ever.
In the sweltering jungles of South America, the Arcadian must learn to master his violent inner demons for this rescue mission to have any chance of success. But can he survive long enough to confront the danger that threatens the very survival of mankind?

"Greig Beck returns to the world of Alex Hunter with great gusto. As with the other books there’s fantastic research woven into the story and it seems Greig really loves to throw together facts from all over the place and mix them with a generous dollop of action and what-if. It’s a winning combination [and] what gives this story real depth and interest long after the current threat is put to rest, and it’s what will make me rush out to get book four. This Green Hell is a smart, delightful read with a big heart. Four Stars." (Keith Stevenson, publisher and editor, Coeur de Lion Books)
“Danger, disappearances and contagion follow Dr Aimee Weir’s important discovery in the Paraguayan jungle. Author Beck piles on the action and suspense. In a word: steamy!” (Gold Coast Bulletin)
"Greig Beck is Clive Cussler meets Matthew Reilly – Violent, visceral and very, very good fun" (Australian South Coast Register)
All the characters in Mr. Becks books are so fleshed out that they seem like they will walk through your door at any moment. Alex Hunter is up there with Dirk Pitt and Aloysius Pendergast you just love them....you cant help it. He has really interesting concepts and story lines that are so unique that it keeps you up wanting to know whats next, who needs sleep. The only down side is that I have went through all of his books and I want MORE. Sorry but you need to kick it in high gear Mr. Beck.
Baby Boomer in Raleigh NC. Faves include James Lee Burke, CJ Box, Baldacci, Flynn, Child, DeMille, Crais, Connolly, Thor, Coes, L'amour. Average two books/week.
If you are a fan of Matthew Reilly, James Rollins and Clive Cussler (and I am of all three) then you will enjoy Greig Beck's Alex Hunter series. I refer to this gendre as "Doc Savage stories"..... IMO, the original Mega-Hero.
Hunter is sort of a Bionic Man.... special ops Delta/GB on steroids - battling assorted evil alien beasties.
I really enjoy this narrator too. Check'em out!
Loved it, couldn't stop listening to it. I liked the characters and the story line, it never grew dull, it was fast paced without losing details. I also enjoyed the notes about what some of the background materials and articles the author used for the story.
I've read all three of the books I can get from the author (Greig Beck). They are slow to release in the U.S. I can't want for the next book. Great Books.
I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book in the series to see if that can bring Alex back... I really enjoy his character.
Matthew Reilly Fan
I listened to the series in rapid succession, enjoying each book fully. I'll put Mr. Beck in the same company as Matthew Reilly and David Lynn Golemon. Great action! I'm hoping for another installment soon.
Not getting attached to closely to any particular character is probably a good idea.
Each character was enjoyable; but of course, Alex was my favorite.
Line them up and block out some time on your schedule. You won't want to stop listening.
"Crichton, Rollins and Beck!"
A tautly written, intense, scary, wonderful jungle adventure. Utterly satisfying: monsters, heroes, transformations, soldiers, betrayals.
This Green Hell sucks you in and leaves you ready for Beck's next book.
In my opinion, a Guaranteed great download for fans of Michael Crichton, Michael Cordy and James Rollins.
