The bestselling author and creator of the hit Netflix drama The Stranger takes listeners into the heart of family loyalty in this twisty thriller that proves that the darkest secrets are often closest to home.

Paul Copeland, a New Jersey county prosecutor, is still grieving the loss of his sister twenty years ago - the night she walked into the woods, never to be seen again. But now, a homicide victim is found with evidence linking him to the disappearance. The victim could be the boy who vanished along with Paul's sister. And, as hope rises that his sister could still be alive, dangerous secrets from his family's past threaten to tear apart everything Paul has been trying to hold together....

Good Reaf

It grabbed me from the start. It was suspenseful and intriguing. I just would have wanted a different ending to it.

Great listen

Another great listen from the author. My only suggestion was a tighter edit as some points were over developed and the listening became a bit tedious. Character development was strong as well as the plot development. Made miles fly by in the car and housework bearable😬!

Drug on a bit too much

It seemed as though the writer was stretching out some scenes too much with trivial and rather boring details or history lessons.

Murder , lies and secrets!

Would you listen to The Woods again? Why?

I would listen to this book again mainly because of the multitude of questions that started running through my mind after the first chapter! This is my first book by Harlan Coben and I believe I am hooked! You are fed bit by bit the pieces of this puzzle and when you think you have it figured out then "Wham!" another clue pops into play and your are off to the next chapter! In retrospect there are area's of "dragging on" with the story but still enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The intriguing plot that winds your through one man's search for peace of mind in the possible death of his sister and for the answers to what really happended on that fateful night

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narrator did well. He maybe could have been a little more exciting to listen to at certain times however it was not a book full of frolicking times in the neighborhood. Difficult to say if he could have been livened up or not.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

KGB on board!

What would you do for your child?

In this legal drama, thriller mystery all is made clear when that singularly compelling question of what would you do for your child is answered by four families entangled in the detritus of a twenty year old crime. The unraveling of the story occurs on parallel tracks as ambitious DA Paul Copeland hurtles towards an unknown but expectedly messy resolution, while colliding forces concurrently seek to evade and damage him at every turn. No one is left unscathed. Accompanied by a tight, swift story the narrator enlivens the varied players in distinct and unique voices, conveying not only the words they speak but their personalities and impressions too. The reader is left allied with all parties at one time or another. No one person is wholly good, but many are bad! Get ready to go back to the past and observe the things that were missed the first time which are now critical to survival today. Be prepared to have this sad story penetrate your heart and your mind. You will be grateful you did!
