Excellent!

Would you listen to The Woodcutter again? Why?

This is the best narration I have ever heard for an audiobook. Perfect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Wolf Hadda, of course.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I mostly laughed, no crying. The comedy in the book came through Hadda's personality, which was really well developed.

Any additional comments?

This story was extremely well narrated, and had the perfect balance of comic relief, drama, intrigue and romance - very subtle, nothing overdone. The characters were really well-developed. Hands down - great book. Highly recommended.

Excellent!

Several reviews I read were so positive, about this author and story, that I spent a credit with confidence! Great story, great author, great narrator! Loved it! Will purchase more books by this author!

DIABLOLICAL

This is my first go with this author, though very familiar with the narrator. Having searched for something of this caliber for a while, my favorite authors all seeming to have taken a “gap” year, I was spellbound by this narrative. It was about combination of all the good attributes that I look for in a read. Thank you, Mr. Hill and Audible, for this amazing offering!!!!!!!!!!

A Diamond in the Rough

The woodcutter would have never been on my list of favorites or sitting in the que of my wish list if it had not been for the glowing recommendations that I read in the reviews from other listeners. If you’re like me, you are judicious with your credits, and you don’t want to waste them, or more importantly squander 16 hours listening to a book that is disappointing. The book is set a few years into the future in England, and if you’re not careful, you may come away rehearsing your best British accent as I have been doing since about halfway through. The reader is spectacular, the pace is nearly perfect, but in a few scenes it felt like the author, Reginald Hill, could have gotten to the point quicker. It is written with a similar pace to P.D. James and Agatha Christie.

Hill gives a number of unexpected, but pleasant, some may say shocking, surprises; mostly in part 2. He ends the book with a swift, satisfying climax, which if you’re not paying attention, you’ll miss; not because it is too complex, but because it moves very quickly.

There are thousands of books screaming for my attention, and Reginald Hill’s voice just got a little louder.

Best Seller , Really?

I had expectations for this book. When the see a book that has been on the the best seller list for multiple weeks or months, I assume other people have had a good experience.
This book, while interesting failed to deliver.

So many twists and turns!

I’ve listened to this book at least twice since purchasing. Very few things did I predict or guess. Very interesting how the story is written, as a “story” and how it all comes together in the end. This one’s a keeper.

Couldn't "put it down"

This story really captured my attention... and held it for a very long time. The story, of a man framed for child pornography and business fraud, and how the story unravels, bit by bit, revealing what happened, and yet as this happens one thinks " this one did it" or "that one" and then more is revealed and it changes your mind. I do think the ending was a bit rushed compared to the rest of the book, but I still give it 5 stars overall. I found it a very different story, but captivating.
