Publisher's summary

Summertime’s salty breezes and the sun’s golden threads bring inspiration to the Seaside Knitters of Sea Harbor, Massachusetts. But when an old mystery washes ashore, they must cast their needles aside and bring some heat back into a cold case…

Izzy Chambers is head over heels. She’s about to marry the love of her life, but much remains to be done before their big day. So the Seaside Knitters have pitched in to help and are even knitting Izzy a beautiful lace wedding shawl.

Meanwhile, Izzy’s aunt, Nell, has hired a gardener to spruce up the backyard where the wedding will be held. The gardener, Claire, is just returning to Cape Anne after a long absence, hoping to put a dark secret to rest and find peace for herself.

But the wedding plans get complicated when the wedding party’s hair stylist, Tiffany, is found dead. Rumors start to circulate about Tiffany’s past and her connection to an unsolved murder years ago. Is Claire’s return part of this pattern? Or are there more secrets simmering in the summer heat?

All the Seaside Knitters know is they must rally to find some answers, so the whispers about town can be replaced by wedding bells.

Good!

I think the more I read this series, the more I enjoy it. I still am a little irritated that the description makes it seem like Izzy is the main character. The book actually follows her Aunt Nell. Izzy is in the book quite a bit, but she isn't the focus. This one was really twisty and I had no idea the end was coming. I'm excited to read more from this series!

Readers get left out from the best clues

My biggest frustration with this series is being left out of all the big clues which would help the reader solve the crime. In this case it happened multiple times towards the end, and we were left out of multiple big bombshell revelations. The story cuts away before letting us know what they read on the paper or what they saw in a photo. This is Very aggravating because it makes it impossible to try and solve the mystery yourself. It's not until they confront the killer that we get clued in.

As far as characters go, Nell & Izzy are very annoying. They have no dimensions to them, all we know is that they have perfect lives & are perfect people. Except I find Nell to be pushy.. she expects everyone to air their dirty laundry, but only puts her own perfect life forward. It's this way she carries where she feels like she's entitled to dig into everyone's most personal secrets. Its aggravating. Birdy is the best though and she redeems this whole series. She's witty, sassy, kind & has a very real personality.

I definitely do wish I was a part of the seaside knitters, the scene is beautifully set & it has a warm cozy feel. I have some qualms with the series, but I feel like it could so easily be improved & I keep having hope the next book will be better.

Another great one

These books never disappoint. They just keep getting better and better. One suggestion, though, read them in order if possible to keep up with the new characters as they are introduced. Again, I could listen to this narrator all day, she's great.

Great mystery!

This was a great mystery book. I didn't see the solution to the murder coming. Narration was done well! Loved this book and author. Gonna download the next one!
