She may be 35th in line for the throne, but Lady Georgiana Rannoch cannot wait to ring in the new year—before a Christmas killer wrings another neck…

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me—well, actually, my true love, Darcy O’Mara, is spending a feliz navidad tramping around South America. Meanwhile, Mummy is holed up in a tiny village called Tiddleton-under-Lovey with that droll Noel Coward! And I’m snowed in at Castle Rannoch with my bumbling brother, Binky, and sourpuss sister-in-law, Fig. So it’s a miracle when I contrive to land a position as hostess to a posh holiday party in Tiddleton. The village is like something out of A Christmas Carol! But no sooner have I arrived than a neighborhood nuisance, a fellow named Freddie falls out of a tree, dead…. Dickensian, indeed.

Freddie’s merely a stocking stuffer. On my second day in town, another so-called accident turns up another mincemeat pie—and yet another on my third. The village is buzzing that a recent prison break could have something to do with it… that, or a long-standing witch’s curse. I’m not so sure. But after Darcy shows up beneath the mistletoe, anything could be possible in this wicked wonderland.

Critic reviews

"Katherine Kellgren performs an impressive range of accents: Irish brogue, high-pitched Cockney, fussy American, West Country burr, and more. Kellgren triumphs as Georgi, who is 34th in line to the throne, giving her a refined accent contrasted with down-to-earth sensibilities. Due to the author's light touch and Kellgren's humorous delivery, the many Yuletide deaths in this cozy do not become macabre. The listener just marvels at the mounting 'accidents' amid the bountiful Christmas cheer." ( AudioFile)

Always a gun listen!

Although the series is fairly repetitive the narrator is amazing. It's a no stress listen that usually has me giggling aloud.

Cute!

If you could sum up The Twelve Clues of Christmas in three words, what would they be?

A very cute, light and entertaining listen.

What other book might you compare The Twelve Clues of Christmas to and why?

All these "royal spyness" books are similar.

What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have no idea because I haven't read any in print.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved me? No. These are not really very "moving" books, they're light entertainment. Sort of like watching a sitcom.

A fun Christmas-themed read.

If you could sum up The Twelve Clues of Christmas in three words, what would they be?

Fun. Festive. Clever.

Any additional comments?

While not the best murder mystery I've ever read, this book was really fun and great to take in just before Christmas. The plot, the mystery, the reveal are all clever; though, perhaps a little too broadcasted. The characters are all delightful, and the numerous holiday traditions add to the overall enjoyable story.

Rhys does it again.

All of Rhys books are easy and fun to listen to. I must say that the narration of the older women were a little hard to listen to, but overall a good performance. Was glad to get her latest book and was not disappointed.

Great Christmas Mystery

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like mysteries and want to add a touch of Christmas to it then this is your book.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot is an interesting one. It starts you out as a Christmas story and builds from there. It gives you a real touch of old England and what it is to have a title and some money.

Which scene was your favorite?

As for my favorite scene, well I really enjoyed hearing about the food they where eating and the Christmas customs that where followed at that time. The ending was very good. I just enjoyed the whole book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The books is just a good listen. It is frank, interesting, and moves along.

Any additional comments?

My last comment would be that thanks to the author for writing it and thanks to the narrator for doing such a great job reading it to me. Loved the different character voices she used. Made my Christmas much better as I listen to it a couple of weeks before Christmas.
